Gading Marine FIC / FAC is a combat boat made by Malaysian company Gading Marine. [2] All variants were designed by New Zealand Naval Architects LOMOcean Marine It is currently in service with Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) and Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN).

Development

After the intrusion in Lahad Datu, Sabah in 2013, Malaysia desperately needs a fast interceptor craft for its security forces to patrol the shallow waters and tight area in Sabah. The establishment of ESSCOM and ESSZONE [3] [4] and ongoing Ops Benteng also makes the acquisition of this combat boat very important. [5] This combat boat is currently in service with Royal Malaysia Police under the name of Gading Marine FAC PC 31. [6] In October 2020, Royal Malaysian Navy has ordered G2000 FIC 18m version for its fast interceptor craft acquisition project. [7]

Variants

G2000 Fast Assault Craft (FAC) 18m Class / FAC PC 31

This variant in service with Royal Malaysia Police. It has a length of 17.6 meters and a beam of 4.6 meters with 1.0 meters draught and can be equipped with 12.7 mm machine gun and 7.62 mm machine gun. Its powered by two MAN V8 1200 hp main engines and can reach to the maximum speed of 45 knots. [8]

G2000 MK I Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) 18m Class

6 ordered by Royal Malaysian Navy in 2020. It has a length of 18 meters and a beam of 4.6 meters with 1.2 meters draught. Armed with two 7.62 mm machine guns. Its powered by two MAN 1550 hp main engines and two Hamilton HM461 water jet and can reach to the maximum speed of 52 knots. This FAC also equipped with multi-function display radar, navigation radar, AIS, FLIR, HF radio, VHF radio and intercom. [9] [10]

G2000 MK II Fast Interceptor Craft (FIC) 18m Class

13 ordered by Royal Malaysian Navy in 2022. [11] Different in powerpack specification. Powered by two MAN V12 1650 hp main engines and two Hamilton HTX42 water jet. Top speed of 50 knots. [12]

The Eastern Sabah Security Command(ESSCOM) is a Malaysian security area that covers 1,400 km of the east coast of Sabah from Kudat to Tawau. It was established by Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Najib bin Abdul Razak and announced on 7 March 2013 by Musa Aman, the Sabah State Chief Minister. Its purpose is to strengthen maritime security in the eastern part of Sabah following the persistent attacks by pirates and militants in the southern Philippines especially after the 2013 Lahad Datu standoff, while at the same time ensuring that trade and business activity are not affected. KA Tun Azizan is an auxiliary ship currently in service with Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). She was sponsored by local company Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) and transferred from Malaysia International Shipping Corporation Berhad (MISC) to the RMN. Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) then change and modify a used cargo vessel to be used as a forward operation base operated by the Royal Malaysian Navy in Sulu Sea, Lahad Datu, Sabah to support the operation of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM). Since its operation in July 2015, KA TAZ operated under the Malaysian International Shipping Corporation (MISC) with the appointment of commanding officers absorbed as member of the RMN Volunteer Reserve Team.

<i>Bunga Mas Lima</i>-class auxiliary ship

The Bunga Mas Lima class is a class of auxiliary ships in service with the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). The class comprises two ships: KA Bunga Mas Lima and KA Bunga Mas Enam. Each ship has a length of 132 metres and displaces about 9,000 tonnes.

Gading Marine Industry also known as Gading Marine is a Malaysian private company engaged in maritime industry including shipbuilding, marine engineering, system integration, ship fabricator, ship maintenance and repair services. Gading Marine operates under its parent company Gading Group and its headquarters located in Selangor. The company also owned a shipyard in other location in the country.

Sandakan Jaya Teknik Multi Purpose Boat or Sandakan Jaya Teknik MPB is the multipurpose combat boat in service with the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN). The boat manufactured by Malaysian company named Sandakan Jaya Teknik Sdn Bhd located in Sabah.
