Gallatin High School (GHS) is one of three public high schools in Gallatin, Tennessee. The school is located at 700 Dan P. Herron Drive in Gallatin and the current principal is Ron Becker. It is part of Sumner County Schools.
Gallatin High School first opened as Trousdale-Allen school on September 7, 1914. The school changed its name to Central High School in 1915. In 1932, a new building was opened as Gallatin High School and used until the current building opened in 1974.
Gallatin High School has a storied rivalry with Hendersonville High School. It has lasted since Hendersonville was opened.
The zebra swallowtail butterfly was chosen as the state butterfly of Tennessee by students in Sherrill Charlton's biology class at the school and was made official in 1994. [2] [3]
On January 8, 2016, the school's gym was dedicated as Jerry Vradenburg Gymnasium. Vradenburg served as a teacher, a coach of multiple sports, and as the school's long-time athletics director from 1966 to 1993. He was coach of the school's 1973 boys' basketball state championship team. Vradenburg also coached the 1970 team vs. Union High School in a game that is the subject of the book "More Than Rivals".
In October 2016, Gallatin High School announced the inaugural class of the Gallatin Athletics Hall of Fame. The Hall was created to recognize outstanding athletes, coaches, and contributors to the athletics programs of both Gallatin and Union High Schools.
Two new events were celebrated during the 2017–18 school year:
On August 25, 2017, the football programs for Gallatin and Station Camp played in the inaugural Mayor's Cup of Gallatin. The winning team each year will be presented the Mayor's Cup by the Mayor of Gallatin.
On February 6, 2018, the basketball teams for Gallatin wore uniforms celebrating and honoring Union High School.
For the 2024 football season, the Gallatin football team will wear uniforms on October 18th to honor the legacy of Union High School.
As of January 2023, two GHS alumni serve in the Tennessee State Senate.

Gallatin is a city in and the county seat of Sumner County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 30,278 at the 2010 census and 44,431 at the 2020 census. Named for United States Secretary of the Treasury Albert Gallatin, the city was established on the Cumberland River and made the county seat of Sumner County in 1802. It is located about 30.6 miles northeast of the state capital of Nashville, Tennessee.
Hendersonville is the most populous city in Sumner County, Tennessee, on Old Hickory Lake. As of the 2020 census the city's population was 61,753.

Harry Junior "The Horse" Gallatin was an American professional basketball player and coach. Gallatin played nine seasons for the New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1948 to 1957, as well as one season with the Detroit Pistons in the 1957–58 season. Gallatin led the NBA in rebounding and was named to the All-NBA First Team in 1954. The following year, he was named to the All-NBA Second Team. For his career, Gallatin played in seven NBA All-Star Games. A member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, he is also a member of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, the SIU Edwardsville Athletics Hall of Fame, the Truman State University Athletics Hall of Fame, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, two Illinois Basketball Halls of Fame, the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Hall of Fame, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Hall of Fame, and the SIU Salukis Hall of Fame.
Grimsley Senior High School, also known as Grimsley High School or simply Grimsley, is a public high school in Greensboro, North Carolina. Formerly known as "Greensboro High School", "Greensboro Central High School", and then "Greensboro Senior High School", it is part of the Guilford County Schools system. Clifton David Briley is an American politician. A Democrat, he was the eighth mayor of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County. He was elected in 2015 as vice-mayor and was sworn in as acting mayor after Megan Barry's resignation on March 6, 2018. Briley went on to win the May 24 special election for the balance of Barry's term with 55% of the vote over nearly a dozen challengers, avoiding a runoff and making him the official mayor of Nashville. John Cooper defeated Briley in the 2019 Nashville mayoral election. Briley was the first native of both Nashville and Tennessee since Bill Boner in 1991 to be mayor.
Hendersonville High School is one of three public high schools located in Hendersonville, Sumner County, Tennessee. Since July 1, 2023, the principal has been Mel Sawyers, who formerly served as principal at Millersville and Guild Elementary Schools. HHS is part of Sumner County Schools. Two middle schools feed into Hendersonville High: Ellis Middle School and Hawkins Middle School.
Station Camp High School (SCHS), located at 1040 Bison Trail, Gallatin, Tennessee, United States, is a public high school that opened in 2002. It is part of Sumner County Schools, with Arthur Crook serving as the current principal.
John Oldham was an American college and professional basketball player, college basketball coach and athletic director. Oldham interrupted his studies at Western Kentucky University (WKU) to serve in the US Navy during World War II. He was on the university's basketball team and after graduation in 1949 played for the Fort Wayne Pistons. Oldham went into coaching in 1952 at College High School in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In 1955 he became coach of the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles men's basketball and led the team to three conference championships. He returned to WKU in 1964 to coach the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers basketball team, leading them to four NCAA tournaments, one NIT, and winning four Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) championships. In 1971 Oldham was promoted to athletic director at WKU, a position he held until 1986. During his tenure the university won six OVC and one Sun Belt Conference All-Sports Championship. After retirement he was elected to the Bowling Green City Commission.
Union High School is the highest level of secondary education in the Union Public Schools system of Tulsa and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, for students in 10th, 11th and 12th grades. The school, combined with Union 9th Grade Center, is the second-largest high school in the state of Oklahoma, behind only Broken Arrow High School.
John Benjamin Briley is an American singer-songwriter from Gallatin, Tennessee, who finished in 11th place on the thirteenth season of American Idol. During college, he joined a gospel group called "25 Drive", with which he released an album. In 2014, he released the country music EP Outlier.
