Eleanora Fagan, better known as Billie Holiday, was an African American jazz singer with a career spanning nearly thirty years. Nicknamed "Lady Day" by her friend and music partner Lester Young, Holiday had a seminal influence on jazz music and pop singing. Her vocal style, strongly inspired by jazz instrumentalists, pioneered a new way of manipulating phrasing and tempo. She was known for her vocal delivery and improvisational skills.
William Edward Nicholson was an English football player, coach, manager and scout who had a 36-year association with Tottenham Hotspur. "I'll Take Today" was later recorded by Ty England on his 1996 album Two Ways to Fall, and in 1998 by Gary Allan on his album It Would Be You; Allan's rendition was released as a single in 1998. "Find Out What's Happenin'" was originally recorded by Bobby Bare in 1968, Barbara Fairchild in 1970, and Pearl River on their 1993 debut album of the same name. "I'll Take the Memories" was originally recorded by Lorrie Morgan on her 1989 album, Leave the Light On.

River Road is an American country music band composed of Tony Ardoin, Mike Burch, Richard Comeaux, Steve Grisaffe, and Charles Ventre. Founded in 1989, the band signed to Capitol Records Nashville in 1997, releasing their self-titled debut album that year and charting three singles on the Billboard country charts, including the top 40 hit "Nickajack". By 1998, River Road had transferred to Virgin Records Nashville, charting a fourth single and recording an unreleased album. Ventre and Grisaffe each began solo careers in the 2000s, but they reunited with Ardoin and Burch in 2011 to release a new extended play.
