He won three gold medals, two silver medals, and a bronze medal at the 2021 World Short Course Championships in relay and individual breaststroke events. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he placed fifth in the 200 meter breaststroke. He won the silver medal in the 200 meter breaststroke at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships, and a gold medal in the 4×100 meter medley relay and a silver medal in the 200 meter breaststroke at the 2019 Pan American Games.
