The Georgia General Assembly is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Georgia. It is bicameral, consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives.
Georgia became a U.S. state in 1788, which allowed it to send congressional delegations to the United States Senate and United States House of Representatives beginning with the 1st United States Congress in 1789. Each state elects two senators to serve for six years, and members of the House to two-year terms.
The 1964 United States House of Representatives elections was an election for the United States House of Representatives on November 3, 1964, to elect members to serve in the 89th United States Congress. They coincided with the election to a full term of President Lyndon B. Johnson. Johnson's landslide victory over Barry Goldwater allowed his Democratic Party to gain a net of 36 seats from the Republican Party, giving them a two-thirds majority in the House. Elizabeth Bachman Moore is an American attorney and former member of the Georgia House of Representatives from the 95th District, serving from 2019 to 2023. She is a member of the Democratic Party. At the time Moore represented the 95th District it included the cities of Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, Duluth, Norcross, and Johns Creek.
