After playing college football at the University of Illinois, Gerry Patrick joined the Toronto Argonauts in 1961. [1] [2] Patrick played offensive guard, linebacker, and defensive end, but shone mostly at guard. He intercepted 1 pass for 0 yards in his career. This was in his second year when he broke his ankle on that play, ending with 11 games played. Also in 1962, Patrick was voted as an eastern conference all-star at guard. Despite this accolade, he played only one game for a bad Argos team that wound up with a 3-11 record the following year and never played another season.

Based in Toronto, Ontario, the team was founded in 1873, and is the oldest existing professional sports team in North America still using its original name, and they are the oldest-surviving team in both the modern-day CFL and East Division. The team's origins date back to a modified version of rugby football that emerged in North America in the latter half of the nineteenth century. The Argonauts played their home games at Rogers Centre from 1989 until 2016 when the team moved to BMO Field, the fifth stadium site to host the team.

He is a former Canadian football linebacker and former special teams coordinator of the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL from 2010 to 2013, winning the Grey Cup in 2012. O'Shea played 16 seasons in the CFL for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts from 1993 to 2008. Ellison Lamar Kelly was an American and Canadian football offensive lineman for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 1960–1970 and the Toronto Argonauts from 1971-1972 of the Canadian Football League. He also played in the National Football League for the New York Giants. Kelly never missed a game in his 12 seasons in the CFL, playing 175 consecutive games. Kelly usually played guard or tackle, but the versatile performer also provided depth at the defensive end and linebacker positions. Teammates recall him as being a tough, solid competitor, even when injured. He won three Grey Cups for the Tiger-Cats in 1963, 1965 & 1967 and played in the 1971 Grey Cup with the Argonauts.

David E. Raimey is a former American football player. He played college football as a halfback for the University of Michigan from 1960 to 1962. He then played professional football as a defensive back for the Cleveland Browns in 1964 and as a running back and defensive back in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1965-1968) and Toronto Argonauts (1969-1974). He played in two Grey Cups, one for the Blue Bombers and one for the Argonauts. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2000.

The team had achieved success during its play in the CJFL, winning a total of 4 National Championships. After 35 years of competition (1960–1995) in the CJFL, the Sooners moved to the Quebec Junior Football League for the beginning of the 1996 season. There, the Sooners would win 3 Manson Cup Championships. The Sooners rejoined the CJFL for the start of the 2009 season. The Sooners have a long history in the city of Ottawa, and while playing in the QJFL they had developed a good rivalry with the now defunct Ottawa Junior Riders. The Sooners are now the only junior football club in Ottawa.

1996 Montreal Alouettes season

The 1996 Montreal Alouettes finished in second place in the East Division with a 12–6 record in the franchise's first full season in the Canadian Football League since 1986. Unlike the lean years from 1981-86, the revived Alouettes were going to be competitive, especially since most of them had won the Grey Cup in the previous season as the Baltimore Stallions. They had some nice talented offensive players from that team, such as Tracy Ham, Mike Pringle, kick returner Chris Wright, slotback Chris Armstrong, and two great defensive players in Irvin Smith, and Elfrid Payton. After a slow start they rebounded to finish strong and after defeating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, they traveled to Toronto, where they were defeated in the East Final by the eventual Grey Cup champions, the Toronto Argonauts.

Jonathan "Bear" Woods is a Canadian football linebacker who is currently a member of the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He made his professional debut for the Montreal Alouettes (CFL) in 2013. He played college football at Troy University.

Randy Ambrosie

Randy Ambrosie is the 14th and current commissioner of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Ambrosie played Canadian football professionally as an offensive guard for the CFL's Calgary Stampeders, Toronto Argonauts, and Edmonton Eskimos. He was selected with the second overall pick in the 1985 CFL Draft by the Stampeders. Over the course of a nine-season career, he played in 142 professional games and became a Grey Cup champion. Ambrosie played college football at the University of Manitoba.
