In a reflection on the track’s unexpected success, Giscombe recalled,
I did a track called ‘Get Up And Dance’ / ‘Hot Up And Heated’ around 1978/79, and I had no idea how big that 12-inch was in Europe. When I went to France to do a show in front of about four thousand people in Paris, and I went on stage to do ‘Mama Used To Say’, when they started the track, everybody started booing! (Laughs) I thought, ‘Hold on a minute, you guys called me over here!’ [2]
