The Giro dell'Umbria was a single-day road bicycle race held annually in Umbria, Italy from 1910 to 1991. After 1991, the race was merged with the newly created Trofeo Melinda. [1] [2]
Felice Gimondi was an Italian professional racing cyclist. With his 1968 victory at the Vuelta a España, only three years after becoming a professional cyclist, Gimondi, nicknamed "The Phoenix", was the second cyclist to win all three Grand Tours of road cycling: Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España (1968). He is one of only seven cyclists to have done so.

It was created after the disappearance of Giro dell'Umbria, held between 1910 and 1991. In 2013 and 2014, the Trofeo Melinda was run as the Italian National Road Race Championships. After 2014, the race was merged with the nearby early-season stage-race Giro del Trentino.
