The Goa Sand Art Festival 2009 was the year of its inception. The theme for 2009 was Global Warming which was conveyed through six different sand sculptures. Each sand sculpture was like a campaign which highlighted the theme.
The highlight for GSAF 2010 was a theme park depicting wildlife conservation. Around 3 days prior to the main festival, the students and the artists from Mumbai, Pune and Goa began work on their creations, creating a unique theme park with different endangered species made completely out of sand.
The theme for Goa Sand Art Festival 2011 was “Marine Life – Unseen Treasures under Water” . People can witness some breath taking sand sculptures depicting the theme. In addition to other artists, this year Goa Sand Art Festival will feature one of the World Renowned Sand Sculptors from UK, Simon Smith-The Sand Wizard . A master of his trade, Simon's work of art have been commissioned and admired across the globe.
The main three day of the festival will showcase different Sand Art Forms like Sand Sculptures, Sand Dance and Sand Drawings. Those interested can also attend free workshop on Sand Art. Everyone are invited to try their hands on Sand Sculpting/Drawing/Writing Messages on sand or just playing with sand at the designated practice pit. This is not for competing with each other but for the love of art.
The artists will start work on their creations from Dec 10 onwards and the festival was open to the public from Dec 16 – Dec 18, 2011. Entry is free and all are welcome to enjoy this most eco-friendly form of art.

William Kentridge is a South African artist best known for his prints, drawings, and animated films. These are constructed by filming a drawing, making erasures and changes, and filming it again. A single drawing will be altered and filmed this way until the end of a scene. These palimpsest-like drawings are later displayed along with the films as finished pieces of art.

The Harbin International Ice and Snow festival is an annual winter festival that takes place with a theme in Harbin, Heilongjiang, China, and now is the largest ice and snow festival in the world. At first participants in the festival were mainly Chinese, however it has since become an international festival and competition, with the 2018 festival attracting 18 million visitors and generating 28.7 billion yuan of revenue. The festival includes the world's biggest ice sculptures.

Sterling Ruby is an American artist who works in a large variety of media including ceramics, painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, video, and textiles. Proclaimed as one of the most interesting artists to emerge this century by New York Times art critic Roberta Smith, Ruby's work examines the psychological space where individual expression confronts social constraint. Sterling Ruby currently lives and works in Los Angeles. His studio is located in Vernon, south of downtown Los Angeles.
Numbers 1-0 is a public artwork by the American artist Robert Indiana, located at the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA), which is near downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. This series of sculptures is composed of 10 brightly painted numerical digits, each made of aluminum and set on its own base. Their construction took place at the former Lippincott Foundry in North Haven, Connecticut from 1980 to 1983.
The Cancún Underwater Museum is a non-profit organization based in Cancún, Mexico devoted to the art of conservation. The museum has a total of 500 sculptures, most by the British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor and the others by five Mexican sculptors, with three different galleries submerged between three and six meters deep in the ocean at the Cancún National Marine Park. The museum was thought up by Marine Park Director Jaime Gonzalez Canto and Jason deCaires Taylor, with the objective of saving the nearby coral reefs by providing an alternative destination for divers. It was started in 2009 and officially opened in November 2010.
Houston International Festival, also known as iFest, is a contemporary, multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural arts and music festival held annually in Houston, Texas. This North American festival takes place every April on 16 acres (65,000 m2) in downtown Houston's parks and plazas. By city ordinance this annual 10-day event is Houston's official city celebration of the visual and performing arts. According to an article in the Houston Chronicle, Ifest announced in June 2014 that it was seeking Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, making it clear that the 2014 fest would be the last ever festival.
