Great Mall station (formerly known as Great Mall/Main Transit Center) is operated by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). This station is served by the Orange Line of the VTA Light Rail system. The station is elevated over the intersection of Great Mall Parkway and Main Street in Milpitas, California. A pedestrian bridge connects the Light Rail station to the Great Mall of the Bay Area.

The station was opened in June 24, 2004 as part of the second phase of VTA's Tasman East light rail extension. [2]

This station formerly served as a major transfer point between VTA Light Rail and bus lines. The transit center was closed and the majority of the bus lines moved to the nearby Milpitas station which opened on December 28, 2019.

It serves 26 stations in the cities of Santa Clara, San Jose, and Campbell, traveling between Old Ironsides and Winchester stations. The line connects Levi's Stadium, San Jose International Airport, Downtown San Jose, San Jose State University, SAP Center, and Diridon station. It runs for 20 hours per day on weekdays, with headways of 15 minutes for most of the day. On weekends, train run at 20 minute headways for most of the day. After around 8pm on weekdays and weekends trains run at 30 minute headways.

VTA Light Rail is a light rail system serving San Jose, California, and its suburbs in Silicon Valley. Milpitas station Under-construction BART station in Milpitas, California

Milpitas is an intermodal transit center serving Milpitas, California and north Santa Clara County. The station was built by the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and is served by the Orange Line of VTA Light Rail and VTA buses. The long-anticipated Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) station is expected to open at the site on June 13, 2020. The bus station is located near the intersection of Capitol Avenue, Great Mall Parkway, and Montague Expressway. The light rail station above the median of Capitol Avenue opened in 2004, and the bus station opened in December 2019.

The Silicon Valley BART Extension is an ongoing effort to expand service by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) into Santa Clara County from its former terminus at the Fremont station in Alameda County. Planned since at least 1981, the project has seven stations in three sequential phases. The first phase was the Warm Springs BART extension, built by BART at a cost of $790 million, terminating at the new Warm Springs/South Fremont station that opened in 2017. The Warm Springs extension broke ground in 2009, and was originally scheduled for completion in 2014.
