The Greenland women's national handball team is the national team of Greenland managed by the Greenland Handball Federation. It takes part in international handball competitions.

Contents

The team participated in the 2001 World Women's Handball Championship in Italy [1] and the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship in Norway.

History

After the Greenland Handball Federation was recognized by the International Handball Federation as independent member in 1998, they played their first game against the Icelandic national team on 27 December 1998. [2]

Renowned for his speed, creativity, movement and charisma as a player, Balić won the 2003 World Championship and the Olympic gold medal in 2004 with the Croatian national team, and thirteen titles playing for clubs in Croatia, Spain and Germany. He also earned two World Championship silver medals, two European Championship silver medals and one bronze medal, and one Olympic bronze medal (2012) with the national team.

‌The 2021 Nor.Ca. Women's Handball Championship was the fourth edition of the championship, held from 22 to 27 August 2021 at Elgin, United States under the aegis of North America and Caribbean Handball Confederation. It was the first time in history that the championship is organised by the USA Team Handball. It also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2021 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top team from the championship directly qualifying for the event to be held in Spain. The tournament was held behind closed doors, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jan Wulff Laugesen is a Danish handball coach. He coached the Greenlandic women's national team at the 2001 World Women's Handball Championship.
