Greenspring Company was the for-profit subsidiary of the non-profit American Public Media Group. Profits gathered from Greenspring were funneled through American Public Media Group in order to help fund Minnesota Public Radio, although Greenspring was taxed before the funds were transferred.

American Public Media Group, formerly the Minnesota Communications Group, is the non-profit parent organization of Minnesota Public Radio, American Public Media, Southern California Public Radio, and the Fitzgerald Theater. Jon McTaggart is APMG's President and CEO.

Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), is a public radio network for the state of Minnesota. With its three services, News & Information, Classical Music and The Current, MPR operates a 46-station regional radio network in the upper Midwest. MPR has a lot of listeners each week in regional Public radio and worldwide by TuneIn.

Greenspring owned The Rivertown Trading Company until it was sold to Target Corporation in 1998 for US$ 134 million. In 2004, the company sold the Minnesota News Network (MNN) to Saga Communications, apparently along with station WMNN. Greenspring kept KLBB and KLBP radio, which remained affiliated with MNN. Radio station WMNN was sold to Starboard Broadcasting organization, which programs the Catholic radio network Relevant Radio. In 2005, KLBB and KLBP were sold to Davidson Media Group for US$5.2 million.

Target Corporation is the eighth-largest retailer in the United States, and is a component of the S&P 500 Index. Founded by George Dayton and headquartered in Minneapolis, the company was originally named Goodfellow Dry Goods in June 1902 before being renamed the Dayton's Dry Goods Company in 1903 and later the Dayton Company in 1910. The first Target store opened in Roseville, Minnesota in 1962 while the parent company was renamed the Dayton Corporation in 1967. It became the Dayton-Hudson Corporation after merging with the J.L. Hudson Company in 1969 and held ownership of several department store chains including Dayton's, Hudson's, Marshall Field's, and Mervyn's.

He is currently President Emeritus, American Public Media and offices in the IDS Tower in Minneapolis.

Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN), the country’s largest community media center, is a non-profit organization that broadcasts programming on five public-access television cable TV stations in Manhattan, New York City. Robert Warren Pittman, is an American businessman. Currently Chairman and CEO of iHeartMedia, Inc., a global media and entertainment company, Pittman was the CEO of MTV Networks and the cofounder and programmer who led the team that created MTV. Pittman joined the predecessor company Clear Channel in November 2010 as an investor and the company’s Chairman of Media and Entertainment Platforms, was named CEO in 2011 and Chairman in 2013. Clear Channel became iHeartMedia, Inc. in September 2014 to reflect its new multiplatform business.
