Gregor Manson is the former Commissioner for the Australian Capital Territory Emergency Services Agency (ACT ESA),an agency of the ACT Department of Justice &Community Safety. The ACT ESA is responsible for the ACT Fire Brigade,ACT Ambulance Service,Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service. He was appointed to the position in 2006,following the resignation of Peter Dunn
Manson had earlier been an executive director with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and prior to that had a background in forestry with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service regions of the Greater Blue Mountains and the Snowy Region (including Kosciusko National Park).
The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is the national and principal federal law enforcement agency of the Australian Government with the unique role of investigating crime and protecting the national security of the Commonwealth of Australia. The AFP is an independent agency of the Department of Home Affairs and is responsible to the minister for home affairs and accountable to the Parliament of Australia. The State Emergency Service (SES) is the name used by a number of organisations in Australia that provide assistance during and after major incidents. Specifically,the service deals with floods,storms and tsunamis,but can also assist in other emergencies,such as vertical rescue and road crash rescues,missing persons searches,and medical evacuations. In other scenarios the SES may provide a support role to other agencies,particularly police and fire. The SES is operational 24 hours a day. The SES is constituted as separate organisations operating in the various Australian states and territories. Eight of the SES organisations co-ordinate through the Australian Council of State and Territory Emergency Services (ACSES).
The Government Radio Network (GRN) is a network of various systems in place across Australia that enable statewide trunked radio communication. The network operates through inter-linked sites for government and public services such as police,ambulance,fire,or roads authorities which require such a system to function properly. The main aim of the GRN is to consolidate all resources into one network,ensuring greater coverage and reliability than if each department had its own independent communication system. The existence of the GRN also reduces the amount of government money and resources needed to maintain communication between units of emergency and public service branches. Last,it allows effective intercommunication among these services in times of national or state emergency for coordination of wide-scale actions.
The 2003 Canberra bushfires caused severe damage to the suburbs and outer areas of Canberra,the capital city of Australia,during 18–22 January 2003. Almost 70% of the Australian Capital Territory's (ACT) pastures,pine plantations,and nature parks were severely damaged,and most of the Mount Stromlo Observatory was destroyed. After burning for a week around the edges of the ACT,the fires entered the suburbs of Canberra on 18 January 2003. Over the next ten hours,four people died,over 490 were injured,and 470 homes were destroyed or severely damaged,requiring a significant relief and reconstruction effort.

The Northern Territory Police Force is the police body that has legal jurisdiction over the Northern Territory of Australia. This police service has 1,537 police members made up of 79 senior sergeants,228 sergeants,839 constables,208 auxiliaries,and 73 Aboriginal Community Police Officers. The rest of the positions are members of commissioned rank and inoperative positions. It also has a civilian staff working across the NT Police,Fire and Emergency Services.

The 2006–07 Australian Capital Territory budget for the financial year 2006–2007 was presented to the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly by Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory Jon Stanhope on 6 June 2006. Stanhope is also the Treasurer,with this budget being the first he has presented as Treasurer. Among the most-discussed elements of the budget were its planned closure of 39 schools in the Territory as part of its "Towards 2020:Renewing Our Schools" vision for education in the Territory.

The National Council for Fire &Emergency Services,is the peak body responsible for representing fire,emergency services and land management agencies in the Australasian region. It was formed in 1993 and has 34 full members and 13 affiliate members.
The ACT Fire and Rescue is the urban fire and rescue service for the Australian Capital Territory. It along with the ACT Ambulance Service,ACT State Emergency Service and ACT Rural Fire Service are part of the Australian Capital Territory Emergency Services Agency.
Mark Crosweller has served as head of Australia's National Resilience Taskforce,part of the Department of Home Affairs,having been appointed there following his service as the Director-General of Emergency Management Australia. He previously served as the third Commissioner for the ACT Emergency Services Agency responsible for the ACT Fire Brigade,ACT Ambulance Service,Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service. He was appointed to this position in 2009 and left in 2012 for the Emergency Management Australia role. Crosweller had earlier been an Assistant Commissioner in the New South Wales Rural Fire Service.
There is no absolute right to privacy in Australian law and there is no clearly recognised tort of invasion of privacy or similar remedy available to people who feel their privacy has been violated. Privacy is,however,affected and protected in limited ways by common law in Australia and a range of federal,state and territorial laws,as well as administrative arrangements.
The ACT Rural Fire Service is a branch of the Australian Capital Territory Emergency Services Agency. It is responsible for the prevention,detection and extinguishment of all bushfires within the ACT,as well as assisting the other branches of ESA.
