Tambov is now represented professionally by FC Tambov.
The IIHF World Ranking is a ranking of the performance of the national ice hockey teams of member countries of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is based on a formula giving points for each team's placings at IIHF-sanctioned tournaments over the previous four years. The ranking is used to determine seedings and qualification requirements for future IIHF tournaments. The current leader in rankings is Canada in men's play and the United States in women's play.
Tambov Governorate was the administrative unit of the Russian Empire, Russian Republic, and later the Russian SFSR with the centre in the city of Tambov. The governorate was located between 51°14' and 55°6' of north latitude and between 38°9' and 43°38' east longitude. Nikolai Ivanovich Myshagin is a Kazakhstani-Russian professional ice hockey coach. He coached the Kazakhstan men's national ice hockey team at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Myshagin is the graduate of Ust-Kamenogorsk ice hockey school. He played only one season for Sputnik Almetyevsk in 1976. He is mostly known as an ice hockey coach. He is the honored coach of Kazakh SSR.
FC Tambov is a Russian football team from Tambov. It will be playing in the Russian Premier League in the 2019–20 season.
Yevgeny Timofeyevich Artyukhin was a Soviet heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler. He won a world title in 1983, as well as three bronze medals at the world and European championships in 1981–83. He missed the 1984 Summer Olympics due to their boycott by the Soviet Union. After retiring from senior competitions he worked as a coach, bringing his son Sergei to an international level in Greco-Roman wrestling. He also continued competing in the masters category and won the Russian heavyweight title in 1995.
