The HTC Prophet is a combined Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and mobile telephone manufactured by HTC.

Orange UK was a mobile network operator and internet service provider in the UK, launched in 1993. It was once a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index but was purchased by France Télécom in 2000, which then adopted the Orange brand for all its other mobile communications activities. Orange UK merged with Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile UK to form a joint venture, EE in 2010. EE continued to operate the Orange brand until February 2015, when new connections and upgrades on Orange tariffs were withdrawn. Existing Orange customers could continue on their plans until March 2019.

Features

Closely resembling the HTC Magician, the device is a 2.75G phone with a 2.8" 240x320 touchscreen, a 2.0-megapixel digital camera, Bluetooth 2.0 without EDR (equivalent to version 1.2 with additional bug fixes), WiFi 802.11b/g, Infrared Technology, Microsoft Push email access, 128 MB internal memory and a full sized SD card slot (no SDHC support). It is based on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 Professional platform, and was among the first Pocket PC phones to use the operating system. It has Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The phone also includes Pocket Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player 10 Mobile as well as some carrier or provider specific software.

The HTC Magician is a Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition PDA-phone, manufactured by High Tech Computer Corporation and released in December 2004. It is sold by many different vendors under the names of Qtek S100, O2 Xda II Mini (Asia), O2 Xda mini (Germany), T-Mobile MDA compact, i-mate JAM, Vodafone VPA Compact, Dopod 818, Krome Spy, and Orange SPV M500. Despite the names and appearances all have the same hardware specifications. The i-mate Jam has a slightly different fascia which requires modification to be retrofitted to other magicians.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances using short-wavelength UHF radio waves in the industrial, scientific and medical radio bands, from 2.400 to 2.485 GHz, and building personal area networks (PANs). It was originally conceived as a wireless alternative to RS-232 data cables.

Infrared radiation (IR), sometimes called infrared light, is electromagnetic radiation (EMR) with longer wavelengths than those of visible light, and is therefore generally invisible to the human eye, although IR at wavelengths up to 1050 nanometers (nm)s from specially pulsed lasers can be seen by humans under certain conditions. IR wavelengths extend from the nominal red edge of the visible spectrum at 700 nanometers, to 1 millimeter (300 GHz). Most of the thermal radiation emitted by objects near room temperature is infrared. As with all EMR, IR carries radiant energy and behaves both like a wave and like its quantum particle, the photon.

Windows Mobile 6 (Crossbow)

There are several "unofficial" builds of Windows Mobile 6 (Crossbow), WM6.1 and even some Windows Mobile 6.5 builds which run on this device, and now even some tools which allow users to create their own custom WM6 ROM images (a process most commonly known by the term "cooking ROM's"). There is a thriving semi-underground community of people dedicated to improving these WM6 builds (and associated tools) on the Prophet, most notably xda-developers.

The Wizard's functions include those of a camera phone and a portable media player in addition to text messaging and multimedia messaging. The Pocket PC Apache is a Windows Mobile 5.0 device, sold as the PPC-6700 by Sprint, and the XV6700 by Verizon Wireless and other US carriers.
