The City of Stirling is a local government area in the northern suburbs of the Western Australian capital city of Perth about 10 kilometres (6 mi) north of Perth's central business district. The City covers an area of 105.2 square kilometres (40.6 sq mi) and had a population of over 210,000 as at the 2016 Census, making it the largest local government area by population in Western Australia.

The Greenwell Glacier is a major tributary glacier, 45 nautical miles long, draining northwest between the Mirabito Range and the Everett Range to enter Lillie Glacier below Mount Works, in northwest Victoria Land, Antarctica. This geographical feature was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and from U.S. Navy aerial photography, 1960–63, and was so named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Commander Martin D. Greenwell, U.S. Navy, Commander of Antarctic Squadron Six (VX-6), 1961–62. The glacier lies situated on the Pennell Coast, a portion of Antarctica lying between Cape Williams and Cape Adare.

Z36 was one of five Type 1936B destroyers built for the Kriegsmarine during World War II. Completed in early 1944, the ship spent the war in the Baltic Sea, escorting German ships, laying minefields, and bombarding Soviet forces. On 12 December, a navigational error caused her to enter a German minefield as she was preparing to lay another minefield in the Gulf of Finland off the Estonian coast. Z36 struck a single mine and sank with the loss of all hands. The wreck was surveyed in 1994.
