James Alexander Watson is the current mayor of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He was a former Ottawa city councillor (1991–1997) and mayor (1997–2000), and subsequently represented the riding of Ottawa West—Nepean in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 2003 to 2010. He served in the Cabinet of Premier Dalton McGuinty in the portfolios of Consumer and Business Services, Health Promotion, and Municipal Affairs and Housing. He resigned in January 2010 to successfully run for mayor in the 2010 Ottawa municipal election. He was subsequently re-elected mayor on October 27, 2014 and on October 22, 2018.
The Toronto City Council is the governing body of the City of Toronto government in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Members represent wards throughout the city, and are known as councillors. The passage of provincial legislation in the summer of 2018 established that the number of wards be reduced from 44 to 25 and that they be based upon the city's federal electoral districts as of the year 2000. While the federal districts have been redistributed since then, the ward boundaries remain the same. The city council had at its peak 45 members: 44 ward councillors plus the mayor. On September 19, 2018, an Ontario Court of Appeals granted a stay order of a previous court decision that would have prevented this reduction, thus re-establishing the move to 25 wards. The actual court appeal of Bill 5 has yet to be scheduled, but was heard subsequent to the municipal election on October 22, 2018.
The Regional Municipality of Ottawa–Carleton was a regional government area and census division in Ontario, Canada, which existed from 1969 until 2001. It was created in 1969 from the former Carleton County plus Cumberland Township, previously part of Russell County.
Orleans, is a suburb of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is located in the eastern part of the city along the Ottawa River, about 16 km (10 mi) from Downtown Ottawa. The Canada 2016 Census determined that Orleans' population was 116,688. Prior to being amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001, the community of Orleans was spread over two municipal jurisdictions, the eastern portion being in the pre-amalgamation City of Cumberland, the western portion in the City of Gloucester. According to the 2016 census, 69,178 people lived in the Cumberland portion of Orleans, while 47,510 people lived in the Gloucester portion. Today, Orleans spans the municipal wards of Orléans, Innes and Cumberland. Orleans contains a significant francophone minority, although this has been declining in recent decades.
Michel Bellemare is a Canadian politician and lawyer. Bellemare was a member of the City Council in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada from 1994 to 2010. He served as acting as mayor of Ottawa, while mayor Larry O'Brien faced charges from May 2-July 8, 2009 and represented Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward in the east end of the city, formerly part of Gloucester.

Andrew Scott "Andy" Haydon is a Canadian engineer and former politician. He was reeve of Nepean Township, Ontario from 1970 to 1978 and Regional Chair of Ottawa-Carleton from 1978-1991. Haydon was the first mayor of the city of Nepean when it incorporated on November 24, 1978; Ben Franklin assumed the title one week later.
Orléans Ward is a city ward in the city of Ottawa, Canada. It was created before the 2000 Election when the area was amalgamated into the city of Ottawa. The ward covers much of the suburban community of Orleans in the east of the city. Previous to that, the ward existed in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton Council. It contains the neighbourhoods of Convent Glen, Convent Glen South, Hiawatha Park, Orleans Wood, Riverglen, Queenswood Village, Chatelaine Village, River Walk, Queenswood Heights, Queenswood South, Fallingbrook and the eastern part of the Cardinal Creek neighbourhood. Not all of Orleans is in the Orléans Ward, as some of it is in Cumberland Ward and Innes Ward. It covers an area of 25.2 km2.
Royal Galipeau was a Canadian politician who was Member of Parliament for the Ottawa—Orléans federal constituency. He was first elected as a Conservative Party candidate in the 2006 election, and was reelected in 2008 and 2011. He was one of the Deputy Speakers of the House of Commons between the 2006 and 2008 elections. He was defeated in the 2015 election by retired Canadian Forces Lieutenant-General Andrew Leslie. In February 2014, he revealed that he was battling multiple myeloma, but insisted he would run for office again in the 2015 election. Galipeau died from the disease in 2018.
Mitchell George "Mitch" Owens was a city councillor and interim mayor of Gloucester, Ontario, Canada. Born in Hazelridge, Manitoba, he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1942. Two years later, he served on the St. Roch, during a part of its historic voyage through the Northwest Passage. After time working in the Arctic and in London, he moved to the Ottawa region in 1953, and settled in the rural area south of the city. Owens retired from the RCMP in 1963 as a Corporal. He went into business as the owner of a trailer park.
Lawrence Robert O'Brien is a Canadian businessman and politician. O'Brien served as the 58th mayor of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada from 2006 until 2010. O'Brien was the founder and former Chair and CEO of Calian Technologies Ltd.
The Ottawa municipal election was contested on October 25, 2010 to elect the mayor of Ottawa, Ottawa City Council and the Ottawa-Carleton Public and Catholic School Boards. The election was held on the same date as elections in every other municipality in Ontario.

He represents the riding of Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes and has served as an MPP since 2010. On September 10, 2015 he was named co-deputy leader with Sylvia Jones.
