Harry Radford was never really the first manager of Nottingham Forest, but he was the first to make an impact in running the club. His official title was Secretary. Before he was around the club just let things drift, but he got them into shape and eventually Forest were elected into the Football League in 1892. Though he never had the title of manager, he did everything a normal manager would.

As a manager, Clough's name is closely associated with that of Peter Taylor, who served as his assistant manager at various clubs in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. They achieved great successes with Derby County and Nottingham Forest. Clough is also remembered for doing frequent radio and television interviews in which he made controversial remarks about players, other managers, and the overall state of the game.
Vivian Alexander Anderson, MBE is an English football coach and former player. He played for various clubs in The Football League in the 1970s and 1980s, including Nottingham Forest, Arsenal, Manchester United and Sheffield Wednesday. He is also notable for being the first black football player to represent England in a full international match.

The 1979 European Cup Final was a football match held at the Olympiastadion, Munich, on 30 May 1979. Trevor Francis scored the only goal of the match, as Nottingham Forest of England defeated Malmö FF of Sweden 1–0 to become European champions for the first time in club history. According to an unofficial survey on 'football rivalries' the 'East Midlands Derby' is the 11th fiercest rivalry in English football, with 9 out of 10 fans from the two clubs naming the other as their "fiercest rival". Since 2007, the winning team of a Forest V Derby match has been awarded the Brian Clough Trophy, in memory of Brian Clough, who managed both clubs during his long and successful football career. The inaugural match was held at Derby's Pride Park on 31 July 2007, in which the host team lost 2–0. Forest are the current holders of the trophy, having retained the trophy after defeating Derby 1–0 at the City Ground on 9 November 2019.
Martin Hugh Michael O'Neill, is a Northern Irish professional football manager and former player who played as a midfielder. He was most recently manager of Championship club Nottingham Forest.
