Heliodoro "Yoyo" Diaz (June 5,1905 - January 1989) was a Cuban baseball pitcher in the Negro leagues. He played from 1922 to 1935 with the Cuban Stars (East) and the New York Cubans. [1]
The Negro leagues were United States professional baseball leagues comprising teams of African Americans. The term may be used broadly to include professional black teams outside the leagues and it may be used narrowly for the seven relatively successful leagues beginning in 1920 that are sometimes termed "Negro Major Leagues".
The Negro American League was one of the several Negro leagues created during the time organized American baseball was segregated. The league was established in 1937,and disbanded after its 1962 season.
The second Negro National League was one of the several Negro leagues that were established during the period in the United States when organized baseball was segregated. The league was founded in 1933 by businessman Gus Greenlee of Pittsburgh.
Martín Magdaleno Dihigo Llanos,called The Immortal and The Maestro,was a Cuban professional baseball player. He played in the Negro leagues and Latin American leagues from 1923 to 1936 as a two-way player,both as a pitcher and a second baseman,although he excelled at all nine positions and later as a manager.
Alejandro "Alex" Pompez was an American executive in Negro league baseball who owned the Cuban Stars (East) and New York Cubans franchises from 1916 to 1950. His family had emigrated from Cuba,where his father was a lawyer. Outside baseball and numbers,he owned and operated a cigar shop in downtown Manhattan. He later served as a scout and director of international scouting for the Giants franchise in Major League Baseball. He was posthumously inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006.
Juan Esteban Vargas Marcano,better known as Tetelo Vargas,and nicknamed "El Gamo Dominicano" or "the Dominican Deer",was a baseball player from the Dominican Republic.
JoséAcosta was a Cuban-born starting pitcher in Major League Baseball who played three seasons for the Chicago White Sox and Washington Senators. Before joining the white minor leagues he played the 1915 season in "Negro baseball" as a member of the integrated Long Branch Cubans.
Armando Marsans Mendiondo was a Cuban professional baseball player who played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball from 1911 to 1918. He played in three different major leagues in his career:with the Cincinnati Reds in the National League (1911–1914),with the St. Louis Terriers in the Federal League (1914–1915),and with the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees (1916–1918).
JoséMaría Tranquilino Fernández Marín Sr. was a Cuban baseball catcher and manager in the Negro leagues from the 1910s to the 1940s.
The American Series was the name given to the exhibition baseball games played between Cuban and American teams in Cuba. Before the Cuban Revolution,American teams would regularly travel to Cuba and play various professional,all-star and/or amateur Cuban teams throughout the country. The series usually took place either in the fall,after the end of the American season,or during spring training before the season began. The first American Series took place in 1879,with then minor league Worcester team going 2–0 against its Cuban opponents.

He played from 1901 to 1914 with several ballclubs,including San Francisco,Almendares,the Fe club,Habana,Cuban Stars (West),Cuban X-Giants,and the All Cubans. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1941.
Luis "El Mulo" Padrón Otorena was a Cuban baseball player in the Negro leagues and Cuban League.
Valentín Dreke was a Cuban baseball outfielder in the Negro leagues. He played from 1919 to 1927,doing so with the Cuban Stars (East) and Cuban Stars (West). He also played winter ball with the famed Almendares team on three occasions. He led the Negro National League in batting average in 1924,hitting .389 in 46 games played. In his eight years of Negro league ball,he batted at least .296 in each season. He died of tuberculosis in 1929. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945.

Bienvenido Jiménez was a Cuban baseball second baseman in the Cuban League and Negro leagues. He played from 1912 to 1929 with several clubs,including Habana,the Cuban Stars (West),and the Cuban Stars (East). Jiménez was nicknamed "Hooks","Gambeta",and "Pata Joroba". He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951.
Isidro FabréFontrodona was a Cuban baseball pitcher in the Negro leagues. He played from 1918 to 1939,mostly with the Cuban Stars (East). Fabréwas elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1956.
Ramón "El Profesor" Bragaña Palacios was a Cuban baseball pitcher and outfielder in the Negro leagues and the Mexican League.
