Student Body and Curriculum
All students attend classes in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science, as well as supplementary classes in Music, Art, Physical Education, and Computer. Hilltop also provides a strong program in World Language. Beginning preschool, students take Spanish. Students in first through third grade take a half a year of Mandarin and half a year of Spanish. Students in fourth through eighth grade of option of Mandarin or Spanish.
Early childhood
The Early Childhood Division consists of students in preschool-kindergarten. Preschoolers must be 2 1/2 and independently toilet trained to be considered for admission.
Lower School
The Lower School program consists of students in first grade through fourth grade.
Upper School
The Upper School consists of students in the fifth through eighth grade and uses a curriculum integrated with that of the Lower School.
In recent years, graduates have attended competitive local high schools including Blair Academy, Newark Academy and the Peddie School, as well as local public high schools.
PEAKS Program
The PEAKS program pairs younger and older students together to participate together in activities designed to teach students respect for others, teamwork and to smooth the transition between the Lower and Upper Schools. The parings are as follows:
- Pre-Kindergarten-4th grade
- Kindergarten-5th grade
- 1st grade-6th grade
- 2nd grade-7th grade
- 3rd grade-8th grade
Horace Mann School is an American private, independent college-preparatory school in the Bronx, founded in 1887. Horace Mann is a member of the Ivy Preparatory School League, educating students from the New York metropolitan area from nursery school to the twelfth grade. The Upper, Middle, and Lower Divisions are located in Riverdale, a neighborhood of the Bronx, while the Nursery School is located in Manhattan. The John Dorr Nature Laboratory, a 275 acres (111 ha) campus in Washington Depot, Connecticut, serves as the school's outdoor and community education center.
Hamden Hall Country Day School is a coeducational private day school in Hamden, Connecticut, educating students in preschool through grade 12. Hamden Hall was founded in 1912 as a country day school for boys by John P. Cushing, its first headmaster. It was the nation’s fourth country day school. The school has been coeducational since 1927 and expanded to include classes through grade 12 in 1934. Now split into three separate divisions, Hamden Hall enrolls the majority of its nearly 600 students in the upper and middle schools and the remainder in the lower school.
Oak Hill Academy is a coeducational, nonsectarian private day school located in the Lincroft section of Middletown Township, in Monmouth County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, serving students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade. Oak Hill Academy was founded in September 1981 by educator Joseph A. Pacelli. The school is academically rigorous and boasts advanced courses in mathematics and Latin. Oak Hill has swimming as a mandatory part of the physical education program.
Norfolk Collegiate is a coeducational independent day school in Norfolk, Virginia for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Norfolk Collegiate is accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS). It's also a member of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools, which includes 10 private schools from the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, as well as a member of the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association.
The Wardlaw+Hartridge School is a private, nonsectarian, coeducational day school located in Edison, New Jersey, United States, serving students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. It is divided into three administrative divisions: the Lower School, the Middle School, and the Upper School.
The Peck School is an independent, co-educational day school with grades kindergarten through eighth grade. Peck School is located in Morristown, in Morris County, New Jersey. There are approximately 330 students. The Peck curriculum includes communication arts, drama, English, library studies, math, music, sports, reading, science, history, social studies, technology, themes or family life, visual arts, woodworking, and world languages.
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy (CHCA) is a private, pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade college preparatory, non-denominational Christian school located on four campuses in Cincinnati, Ohio. Three of its campuses (Edyth B. Lindner Campus, Founders' Campus, and Martha S. Lindner Campus) are located in northern Cincinnati, in Sycamore Township and Symmes Township, near the intersection of Interstate 71 and Interstate 275. The Otto Armleder Memorial Education Center is located in downtown Cincinnati.
Far Hills Country Day School (FHCDS) is a private, co-educational Preschool-Grade 8 school located in Far Hills, New Jersey. The school is situated on a 54-acre (22 ha) campus that include learning gardens, computer labs, media centers, a performing arts center, a large athletics center including a climbing wall, outdoor fields, tennis courts, ropes challenge course, meadows, a pond, and woodlands.
Mirman School is an independent, co-educational school for highly gifted children located at 16180 Mulholland Drive in Bel-Air, Los Angeles, California, United States, with 330 pupils aged 5 to 14. Mirman School is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges WASC for grades K-8. Mirman is one of a handful of schools for the highly gifted in the United States.

St. Mark's Episcopal School is a private primary and secondary school located in the Cambridge Place development and in West University Place, Texas, in Greater Houston. St. Mark's serves preschool through Grade 8. The school is located just four miles from the Texas Medical Center and minutes south of the Galleria. St. Mark's is a part of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas and is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest and the Southwest Association of Episcopal Schools. The current headmaster of the school is Garhett Wagers.
Presbyterian School is a private, coeducational Christian PreK-8 day school in the Museum District, Houston. Presbyterian School is composed of three divisions: an Early Childhood division, Alpha through Pre-kindergarten, a Lower School division, Kindergarten through grade five, and a Middle School division, sixth through eighth grade.
The Regis School of the Sacred Heart is an elementary and middle school for boys. It is located at 7330 Westview Drive in the Spring Branch area of Houston, in the U.S. state of Texas. The boys school serves students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The school has been single gender and non-profit since its founding and is a Houston Area Independent School. Regis is also part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. As at 2022, the school has about 277 students enrolled, and it celebrated its thirtieth anniversary during the 2021–22 school year. Regis, an independent Catholic school, is the only all-boys school of the Archdiocese to have early childhood, elementary, and middle school programs in one school. Regis is the brother school of the Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart.
The Quarry Lane School is a private, college-preparatory and International Baccalaureate school in California that offers education for students from preschool to twelfth grade. The School was founded by Sabri Arac, who is the current Head of School.
Episcopal Day School (EDS) is an independent, co-educational school in Pensacola, Florida, providing courses from pre-kindergarten to grade 8 levels. The roots of Episcopal Day School date back to 1856 when an educational ministry was founded as a part of Old Christ Church. The school in its current form has operated since 1952. While founded on Episcopal traditions, EDS is welcoming of all faiths and backgrounds.
