BYO Split Series Volume IV is a split album released in 2002 as the fourth entry in BYO Records BYO Split Series. The album features twelve tracks by American punk rock bands the Bouncing Souls and Anti-Flag. Each band covers one song originally by the other, with The Bouncing Souls performing "That's Youth" and Anti-Flag performing "The Freaks, Nerds & Romantics". Other covers are Cock Sparrer's "We're Coming Back" and Sticks and Stones' "Less Than Free" by The Bouncing Souls and the Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen In Love" by Anti-Flag. The remaining tracks were originally recorded for this album.

They signed to the larger label "next door", Dexter Holland's Nitro Records, in 1998 and finally came to rest at Blackout Records in 2003 after a brief sortie back to Indecision in 2000.

Mischief Brew was an American folk punk band from Philadelphia consisting of vocalist and guitarist Erik Petersen, bassist Shawn St. Clair, and drummers Christopher Petersen and Christopher Kulp. The band played DIY folk punk and anarcho-punk music; it incorporated styles including American folk, Celtic folk, Gypsy-punk, and swing with lyrics influenced by the labour movement, protest music, and punk culture.
Connection is a split EP by the Orange County, California, rock bands Home Grown and Limbeck, released in 2000 by Utility Records. It resulted from a tour the previous year on which the two bands played together and became friends.
Surf Goddess is an EP by the American punk rock band the Queers, released in February 1995 by Lookout! Records. It marked the return of longtime drummer Hugh O'Neill to the band, after a forced leave of absence to deal with heroin addiction. Former Screeching Weasel member Dan Vapid, who had been a member of the Queers in 1994, played on the EP as a guest guitarist. Surf Goddess was the result of band leader Joe King and Lookout! head Larry Livermore being dissatisfied with the production techniques on the band's prior album, 1994's Beat Off, which producer Ben Weasel had insisted on keeping basic. King and Livermore wanted to incorporate overdubbing and other effects which Livermore felt were essential to the Queers' sound. In addition to the title track, which was co-written by Weasel, and the Queers original "Quit Talkin'", the EP includes cover versions of Tommy James and the Shondells's "Mirage" and the Undertones' "Get Over You".
Morning Again is an American metalcore band from Florida. They were known for their metallic sound as well as for their straight edge, vegan, anti-religious and anti-government ideals. The band was a "sister band" to Culture, often switching members after one had left the other. Several members went on to play in other bands such as As Friends Rust and Dead Blue Sky. The band was originally from Cooper City, Florida, but moved to Coral Springs in 1998 before breaking up later that year. After playing several reunion shows over the years, the band released a new EP in 2018.

Black on Black: A Tribute to Black Flag is a tribute album to the defunct American hardcore punk band Black Flag. The album, released through Initial Records on October 8, 2002, compiles covers which were originally released as a series of four 7-inch singles. After Initial Records went out of business in 2004, Black on Black was later reissued through ReIgnition Recordings on March 14, 2006 with six new cover songs.
Calm Down Juanita is a Seattle, Washington studio band writing partnership between vocalist Tyler Willman and drummer Kevin Guess, catalyzed and engineered by Steve Wilmans, that has featured several other notable players. Their sound is progressive psychedelic alternative rock. They recorded and released two albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with different bass players and multiple guests on each album. The band was described as "acid-y, slinky and soulful," and as having a style somewhere between The Flaming Lips and later-period Marvin Gaye.
Gamma Ray is the debut EP by Gamma Ray, a musical project by former Kyuss guitarist Josh Homme, released in 1996 by Man's Ruin Records. After the breakup of Kyuss in 1995, Homme recorded the Gamma Ray material in Seattle with producer Chris Goss, bassist Van Conner, and drummer Victor Indrizzo. Former Kyuss singer John Garcia contributed backing vocals to the track "Born to Hula". After the release of the EP, Homme received a cease and desist order because the name Gamma Ray was already in use by a German power metal band. He changed the name of the project to Queens of the Stone Age, and both of the Gamma Ray tracks were re-released the following year by Man's Ruin on the Kyuss / Queens of the Stone Age split EP, which featured some of the final studio recordings by Kyuss and debuted the "Queens of the Stone Age" moniker for Homme's new project. The split EP also included a third track from the Gamma Ray recording sessions, "Spiders and Vinegaroons".
Hostage Calm was an American punk rock band from Wallingford, Connecticut, United States, formed in 2007. Hostage Calm released two extended plays, four full-length albums, and a split with punk band Anti-Flag. The band announced their breakup on October 8, 2014, and played their last show on March 6, 2015.
Please Remain Calm is the third studio album by Wallingford, Connecticut based rock band Hostage Calm. On August 28, 2012, the band released the single, "Brokenheartland." Released in October 2012, Please Remain Calm garnered wide critical acclaim and praise. Following this, the band supported Rival Schools on their headlining US tour. In September and October 2013, the band supported Saves the Day on their headlining US tour.
Die on Stage is the fourth and final studio album from Connecticut rock band Hostage Calm. The album was released on September 16, 2014 through Run For Cover Records. On July 22, 2014 the band released a music video for the single, "Your Head/Your Heart." The record was produced by Will Yip of Studio 4. This album will mark the first release with new drummer Keith Sidorowicz, who joined the band in 2013 following the departure of the band's former drummer, John Ross. On August 18, 2014 the band released the album's second single, "A Thousand Miles Away From Here." On September 2, 2014 the band premiered the album's third single, "Fallen Angel," courtesy of Fuse. The album was included at number 35 on Rock Sound's "Top 50 Albums of the Year" list.

This album is the last release to feature drummer Brett Pieper and first to feature guitarist Nick Balzano. On October 12, 2011, a music video was released for the single, "Rebel Fatigues." In December 2011, the band embarked on a UK tour with I Am the Avalanche.
Despise You are an American powerviolence band from Inglewood, California, formed in 1994. The group is noted for helping influencing the powerviolence movement and for their bleak lyrics about topics such as gang violence, misanthropy, and self-hate. The band was known for being mysterious during their initial run; they often used pseudonyms in their liner notes and they never played live shows until their reformation in 2007. They have been described as "the angriest band in the world" by some.

In the US, the album debuted at No. 17 on the Hard Rock Albums chart, No. 11 on the Independent Albums chart, and No. 10 on the Tastemakers chart. The album featured cover art by artist Noah Scalin.
