The Berlin State Opera is a German opera company based in Berlin. Its permanent home is the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, commonly referred to as Lindenoper, in the central Mitte district, which also hosts the Staatskapelle Berlin orchestra. Originally the Hofoper from 1742, it was named Königliches Opernhaus in 1844, and Staatsoper Unter den Linden in 1918. From 1949 to 1990 it housed the state opera of East Germany. Since 2004, the State Opera company belongs to the Berlin Opera Foundation, like the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Berlin State Ballet, and the Bühnenservice Berlin.
Rodney Stephen Adler is an Australian whose family founded the FAI Insurances group, of which he became chief executive in 1989, and which was at one stage Australia's third largest general insurer. Adler became a director of HIH Insurance after the acquisition of that company, and resigned in January 2001, two months before HIH collapsed. He was jailed in 2005 for his conduct related to the collapse of HIH, where Adler obtained A$2 million from HIH by false or misleading statements and being dishonest as a director.

The Adler Hotel, also known as the Hotel Adler, was a 150-room, five-story hotel in Sharon Springs, New York, that operated from 1929 until 2004. Known for its therapeutic sulfur spa, it catered primarily to a Jewish clientele who travelled to Sharon Springs in the summers. It was kosher, with two kitchens. It was built in the Spanish Colonial Revival style and was adjacent to the Pavilion Hotel, which had been a summer destination for guests such as the Vanderbilts, Rensselaers, and Oscar Wilde. Ed Koch worked as a busboy at the Adler Hotel in 1946. When Steven Spielberg was preparing for Schindler's List, he interviewed survivors staying at the hotel.
