Huck's Market, formerly known as Huck's Now and more recently, Huck's Food & Fuel, is a chain of convenience stores headquartered in Carmi, Illinois, operating as a subsidiary of Martin & Bayley, Inc. As of August 2023, there are over 125 Huck's stores located across Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee. [1]
Martin & Bayley was founded in 1960, beginning its existence when Bob Martin and Frank Bayley formed a partnership and opened the Big John's Supermarket chain in Southern Illinois. [2] In 1974, Martin & Bayley opened the first Huck's location in Grayville, Illinois. Huck's has been an employee-owned corporation since 2001, employing over 1200 people, primarily in rural areas. Huck's launched its new loyalty program, Huck's Bucks Bigg Rewards, in June 2020 during the COVID epidemic with great success.

The Food Emporium is a chain of grocery stores in New York and New Jersey. The supermarket banner was created by Shopwell Inc., whose roots can be traced to Daitch Crystal Dairies. Shopwell Inc. was acquired by The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) in 1986 and at the time, the company operated the upscale, gourmet banner stores in and around New York City; Westchester County, NY; and Fairfield County, CT. The Food Emporium grew throughout the 1990s, converting many of its New York-area A&P stores to The Food Emporium and expanding the chain to New Jersey. The 2000s brought new, stronger competition to the New York area, and the chain shrank, receding mostly to Manhattan. At the time of A&P's liquidation in 2015, The Food Emporium had 11 stores. The banner was acquired from bankrupt A&P in late 2015 by Key Food Stores Co-op, Inc., which currently operates thirteen of The Food Emporium stores.
White Hen Pantry was a Lombard, Illinois-based chain of approximately 261 predominantly franchisee-owned convenience stores located in and around Detroit, Boston / southern New Hampshire, southern Wisconsin, northwest Indiana and central Illinois areas of the United States. Most of the stores were open 24 hours and offered an array of standard convenience store fare such as coffees, cappuccinos, frozen and dry goods and toiletries. Many also had full delis serving boxed sandwiches and salads, name-brand meats and cheeses and fresh fruits and vegetables. White Hen's array of services included catering options and sales of external holiday gift cards. Most stores also had ATMs and sold lottery tickets; White Hen was the largest ticket vendor of the Illinois Lottery before being acquired by 7-Eleven.
