I'm Never Afraid! (Dutch: Ik ben echt niet bang!) is a 2010 Dutch Super 16mm [1] documentary film about Mack Bouwense an eight-year-old professional motorcross racer who has a mirrored heart, a condition known as dextrocardia. It is directed by award-winning Dutch filmmaker Willem Baptist and broadcast by VPRO on 20 November 2010. In German and French speaking countries the documentary was broadcast by ARTE. [2]

It premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, [3] and screened at more than 100 film festivals worldwide including BFI London Film Festival, Slamdance, [4] Sprockets; Toronto Film Festival, [5] and Kraków Film Festival. [6] It won multiple international awards [7] [8] [9] including a Golden Gate Award at San Francisco International Film Festival, [10] Documentary Short Grand Jury Prize at Atlanta Film Festival, [11] and a Kinderkast Jury award non-fiction at Cinekid Festival. [12] In 2011, the documentary was nominated for a broadcast award for Best Children Programme at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision. [13]

The Cinekid Festival is the largest international film, television and new media festival for children aged 4 to 14 held at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It started as a small children's film festival and has now grown into a large organisation that develops activities for children in the areas of film, television and new media throughout the year. These activities are presented alongside the festival, whereas the festival itself screens films from all over the world and a selection of the best television programs for children. It also organises several new media activities. Each year the festival is attended by over 50,000 children, parents and (international) guests.
