Kolkata ([kolkata], is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. INS Ambuda had a rated capacity to carry 200 ton of fresh water and was designed by Central Design Organisation (CDO) of Directorate of Naval Construction (DNC). [1] It was one of the first Indian navy vessel to be designed in India after independence. It was commissioned on 31-3-1966 [1] and was decommissioned in February 2007 after serving for over 40 years. [2] Ambuda means Cloud in vernacular language.

Project 28 was approved in 2003, with construction of the lead ship, INS Kamorta commencing on 12 August 2005. Three of the four corvettes, INS Kamorta, INS Kadmatt and INS Kiltan were commissioned in 2014, 2016 and 2017 respectively. INS Kavaratti is under construction and slated to be completed by May 2019.

Russian submarine <i>Nerpa</i> (K-152) nuclear submarine

INS Chakra is a 8,140-tonne (8,010-long-ton) Project 971 nuclear-powered attack submarine. The construction of the Nerpa submarine was started in 1993, but was then suspended due to lack of funding. The Indian Navy sponsored the building and sea trials of the submarine provided it was given to the Indian Navy on lease for 10 years. It was launched as K-152 Nerpa in October 2008 and entered service with the Russian Navy in late 2009. The submarine was leased to the Indian Navy in 2011 after extensive trials, and was formally commissioned into service as INS Chakra II at a ceremony in Visakhapatnam on 4 April 2012. The INS Chakra joined the Eastern Naval Command at Visakhapatnam.

INS Vikrant, also known as Indigenous Aircraft Carrier 1 (IAC-1), is an aircraft carrier under construction by Cochin Shipyard in Kochi, Kerala for the Indian Navy. It is the first aircraft carrier to be built in India. The name Vikrant means "courageous". The motto of the ship is Jayema Sam Yudhi Sprdhah, which is taken from Rigveda 1.8.3 and can be translated as "I defeat those who fight against me".
