Ian McOrist (born 6 November 1949) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Australian rules football, officially known as Australian football, or simply called Aussie rules, football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of eighteen players on an oval-shaped field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval-shaped ball between goal posts or between behind posts.

McOrist was recruited from Northcote, where he finished third for the J. J. Field Trophy (Victorian Football Association Division 2 Best & Fairest) in 1971. [1] He was a half-forward flanker who played one year of senior football at Collingwood in 1972; he played only 12 games, for 16 goals under coach Neil Mann, [2] including six goals in his first full match, after being a reserve [3] in his first match. [4]

Northcote Football Club (/ˈnoːθ.kət/), nicknamed The Dragons, was an Australian rules football club which played in the VFA from 1908 until 1987. The club's colours for most of its time in the VFA were green and yellow and it was based in the Melbourne suburb of Northcote.
