Ian Page (born 10 December 1963) is a British conductor who is the founder and artistic director of Classical Opera and The Mozartists.

Page studied English literature at the University of York. He then studied piano and conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has worked for Glyndebourne Festival Opera, The Royal Opera, Scottish Opera and English National Opera. [1]

With Classical Opera he has conducted many Mozart operas – including the world premières of the ‘original’ version of Mitridate, re di Ponto and a new completion of Zaide – the UK premières of Gluck’s La clemenza di Tito and Telemann’s Orpheus , and the first new staging for 250 years of Johann Christian Bach’s Adriano in Siria. In 2012, he embarked on a new complete cycle of Mozart opera recordings. [7] [8] Page also devised MOZART 250, Classical Opera’s twenty-seven year project in which a substantial part of the company's programme each season will explore the music that was being written by Mozart and his contemporaries exactly 250 years previously. The project will run from 2015 to 2041. [9] [10] [11]

La clemenza di Tito, K. 621, is an opera seria in two acts composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to an Italian libretto by Caterino Mazzolà, after Pietro Metastasio. Mozart completed the work in the midst of composing Die Zauberflöte, his last opera. La clemenza di Tito premiered on 6 September 1791 at the Estates Theatre in Prague.

Zaide is an unfinished German-language opera, K. 344, written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1780. Emperor Joseph II, in 1778, was in the process of setting up an opera company for the purpose of performing German opera. One condition required of the composer to join this company was that he should write a comic opera. At Salzburg in 1779 Mozart began work on a new opera. It contains spoken dialogue, which also classifies it as a Singspiel. Only the arias and ensembles from the first two acts were composed. Missing are an overture and third act.

Yvonne Minton, Lucia Popp and Frederica von Stade with the Chorus and Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, under the direction of Sir Colin Davis. It was released in 1977.
