Water polo was contested by men's teams at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea from September 30 to October 6, 2002. Six teams competed in two round robin groups. All games were staged at the Changwon Swimming Pool.

Thailand participated in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China between 12–27 November 2010. Basketball at the 2018 Asian Games was held in Jakarta, Indonesia from 14 August to 1 September 2018 and contested two events: 5x5 and 3x3 basketball. This was the first Asian Games tournament for 3x3 basketball.

The 2019 EAFF E-1 Football Championship was the seventh edition of the women's tournament of the EAFF E-1 Football Championship, the women's football championship of East Asia. It was held in South Korea in December 2019.
