The Commonwealth Bank Trophy, also referred to as the National Netball League, was the top level national Australian netball league between 1997 and 2007. The league was organized by Netball Australia. Its main sponsor was the Commonwealth Bank. Melbourne Phoenix were the competition's most successful team, winning five premierships. Sydney Swifts were the second most successful team, winning four premierships. Between them, Phoenix and Swifts played in every grand final, except in 1999 when Adelaide Thunderbirds won the second of their two premierships. In 2008, the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league was replaced by the ANZ Championship.
Perth Orioles were an Australian netball team that, between 1997 and 2007, represented Netball Western Australia in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. Orioles were one of the founding teams of the competition. They never finished higher than sixth in the competition's eleven seasons and finished last four times. In 2008, when the Commonwealth Bank Trophy was replaced by the ANZ Championship, Perth Orioles were rebranded as West Coast Fever.
Janine Claire Ilitch is an Australian netball player. She was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder in 1993.
Norma Margaret Plummer AM is a former Australian national player who also served as netball coach for both Australia and South Africa. She was coach of Australia from 2003 to 2011, ending her coaching career with the Diamonds on 67 victories from 89 Tests — a success rate of 75 per cent. She was replaced as coach of Australia by Lisa Alexander. She was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for her services to the sport.
Catherine Cox is a former Australia netball international and current netball commentator. Between 1997 and 2013, she made 108 senior appearances for Australia. She was a prominent member of the Australia teams that won gold medals at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and the 2007 and 2011 World Netball Championships. She was also a member of the Australia teams that won silver medals at the 2003 World Netball Championships and the 2006 and 2010 Commonwealth Games. Cox captained Australia on seven occasions, including when they won the 2011 Constellation Cup.
Mo'onia Frances Gerrard is a former Australian netball player of Tongan descent. Her netball career commenced at a very young age; she would often participate in training sessions of her mother's senior Dee Why Beach Netball Club team. When she was old enough to register in a team, Gerrard commenced playing with Narrabeen Youth Club and was later selected to represent Manly Warringah Netball Association at State Age, State Championships and State League. She was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. Gerrard is a current member of the Australian national team, and from 2011 is playing for the New South Wales Swifts in the ANZ Championship. She is the sister of Australian rugby union player Mark Gerrard.
West Coast Fever are an Australian netball team based in Perth, Western Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they competed in the ANZ Championship. Between 1997 and 2007, as Perth Orioles, they competed in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. During the ANZ Championship era, Fever were the only Australian team not to win a title, play in a grand final or feature in a finals series. However, during the Suncorp Super Netball era they emerged as challengers. They were grand finalists in both 2018 and 2020.
Stacey Marinkovich, previously known as Stacey Rosman, is a former Australian netball player and current netball coach. During the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era she played for Queensland Firebirds and Perth Orioles. In the ANZ Championship era she played for West Coast Fever. She captained both Orioles and Fever. After retiring as a player, Rosman became a coach. In 2014 she was appointed head coach of West Coast Fever. In 2018 she guided Fever to their first ever grand final. She was subsequently named Joyce Brown Coach of the Year. In 2020 Rosman, now Marinkovich, was appointed head coach of the Australia national netball team.
Susan Elizabeth Fuhrmann, known as "the Fuhrmannator", is an Australian retired international netball player.
Bianca Giteau is a former Australian netball player. Giteau played with the Perth Orioles in 2002, the Canberra Darters from 2003 to 2005 and the Melbourne Kestrels in 2006 in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She also played with the Australian U21 team from 2004 to 2005. In the ANZ Championship, Giteau played for the West Coast Fever from 2008 to 2010, and with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2011.
Nikala Smith is a former Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, playing for the West Coast Fever. Smith played 56 games in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, as a member of the Perth Orioles and the AIS Canberra Darters (2006). Her career peaked when she won a premiership with the side voted the best in Australian indoor netball history, the Spinning Snap Kicks.
Madison “Madi” Browne is an Australian netball player, currently playing in the British Netball Superleague for Leeds Rhinos Netball.
Ashlee Howard is an Australian netball player in the ANZ Championship, playing for the Melbourne Vixens.
Abby Marie Sargent is a retired Australian netball player. Sargent was also a member of the England national team that played in the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games. She also played for the Melbourne Kestrels (1999–2000) and the Melbourne Phoenix (2007) in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. With the start of the ANZ Championship, Sargent played for the Melbourne Vixens in the 2008 season, after which she announced her retirement from netball. She held an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship from 1997–1998.
Wendy Jones is an Australian netball player. Jacobsen was captain of the Victorian Under 19 team in 1996–97 and the Under 21 team from 1997–99, she represented Victoria from 1990 as an 11-year-old until 2011. She was a scholarship holder at the Australian Institute of Sport in 1997 and 1998. Also a member of the Australian national team from 2005–08. She played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy with the Melbourne Phoenix from 1998–2007, winning premierships in 2000, 2002–03 and 2005.
Nicole Richardson is a softball player from Australia, who won a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. She also represented Australia in netball, winning gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Richardson played both centre and wing defence. She played seven seasons with the Melbourne Kestrels in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was captain of the team from 2000 until 2003. She retired from netball in 2003. Since retiring from netball, Richardson has forged a distinctive coaching career. She coached Victorian representative teams at under 17, under 19 and under 21 levels, before becoming head coach of the Netball Australia Centre for Excellence team. During the mid-to-late 2010's, she was assistant coach at Super Netball teams West Coast Fever and Collingwood Magpies, and in 2021 she was appointed head coach of the Magpies.

Lisa Michelle Alexander is a retired Australian netball player and coach. She coached the Australia national netball team from 2011 to 2020.
Karyn Bailey is a former Australian netball player who played for the Melbourne Vixens, Adelaide Thunderbirds. and played for the Surrey Storm (UK) from 2018 - 2021. After Storm's final game on Monday 21st June 2021, she retired from domestic netball after 16 years of playing top-flight netball.
Simone McKinnis is a former Australia netball international and the current head coach of Melbourne Vixens in Suncorp Super Netball. As a player she was a member of the Australia teams that won gold medals at the 1991 and 1995 World Netball Championships, the 1993 World Games and the 1998 Commonwealth Games. She also captained the Melbourne Phoenix team that won the 1997 Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was head coach when Vixens won the 2014 ANZ Championship and the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball titles. In 1992, McKinnis was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia and in 2010 was inducted into the Australian Netball Hall of Fame.
