J*S*T*A*R*S is an electronic musical collaboration formed by Steve Cobby and Sim Lister in 2002, from Kingston upon Hull and Sheffield in Yorkshire.

Their debut release was a 12" vinyl, "Tripping the Light Fantastic" / "Ickey Plush" on the electronica label, Twentythree Records, which was also based in both Hull and Sheffield. Their first album, Put Me on a Planet (Steel Tiger Records) was named "one of the surprise hits of 2006" by Matt Anniss in the December 2006 issue of International DJ Magazine.

Cobby and Lister were founders of both Steel Tiger Records and Twentythree Records. J*S*T*A*R*S's track "Loose Nuke Threat" from Put Me on a Planet featured in television/cinema advertisements for the John Lewis Partnership spring campaigns for 2004 and 2005.

"Loose Nuke Threat" also featured in the 2012 Fiat Panda TV advertising campaign. Eagle-i Music set up this synchronisation.

<i>Analogue Bubblebath</i> First record released by Aphex Twin

Analogue Bubblebath, also released as Aphex Twin ep, is the first record by musician and producer Richard D. James, using the alias The Aphex Twin. The EP was released in September 1991 by Mighty Force Records. It was the inaugural release for the label, which at the time was a record shop in Exeter. The record was hugely influential on the development of electronic music, particularly techno and ambient techno. Its release has been described as a key event in the history of dance music. It is the first release in what became the Analogue Bubblebath series.

Tiga (musician) Canadian DJ and musician

Tiga James Sontag, known simply as Tiga, is a Canadian musician, DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. He has released three albums, Sexor, Ciao!, and No Fantasy Required. Sexor won the 2007 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year. Tiga released a selection of compilations in the early 2000s, featuring mixes such as American Gigolo, DJ-Kicks: Tiga and, Mixed Emotions, which put him on the map as one of "the world's best mixers". His compilation mix, Tiga Non-Stop, was released in November 2012, and premiered Tiga's latest single "Plush". The mix also features tracks from artists such as Kindness, Duke Dumont and Blawan.

Sandman was a free music magazine launched in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, in September 2002. Later versions were created, specifically covering Leeds, Kingston upon Hull, York, Nottingham and Manchester before all five editions were amalgamated into one compendium edition which also covered Manchester, Bradford, Derby and Leicester making Sandman the largest independent publication of its kind in the UK.

Little Glitches

Little Glitches are a folktronica collective from Sheffield, UK. The group formed in 2004 after collaborating and writing together in previous bands. The founding members of the collective are Andrew Bolam, Gavin Harris (drums), Iain Stewart, and Sam Smith. All four members share vocal duties and they have been noted for their strong four part harmonies and song writing in numerous newspaper and magazine articles; such as Sandman magazine, Dazed & Confused magazine and the Sheffield Telegraph. Since 2010 the band has begun taking a more collective based approach to their music making, working independently and jointly with other local musicians. During 2012 several new demo tracks appeared on their website blog and there are rumours of new releases in 2013.

The Cutler is an electronica collaboration from Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire. Formed by Steve Cobby, formerly half of Fila Brazillia, and David 'Porky' Brennand, founder of Pork Recordings, they play electronica and Dub music.

Bassline is a music genre related to UK garage that originated in Yorkshire and the Midlands in the early 2000s. Stylistically it comprises a four-to-the-floor rhythm normally at around 135–142 beats per minute and a strong emphasis on bass, similar to that of its precursor speed garage, with chopped up vocal samples and a pop music aesthetic.
