The National Cartoonists Society (NCS) is an organization of professional cartoonists in the United States. It presents the National Cartoonists Society Awards. The Society was born in 1946 when groups of cartoonists got together to entertain the troops. They enjoyed each other's company and decided to meet on a regular basis.
Edward Sorel is an American illustrator, caricaturist, cartoonist, graphic designer and author. His work is known for its storytelling, its left-liberal social commentary, its criticism of reactionary right-wing politics and organized religion. Formerly a regular contributor to The Nation, New York Magazine and The Atlantic, his work is today seen more frequently in Vanity Fair. He has been hailed by The New York Times as "one of America's foremost political satirists". As a lifelong New Yorker, a large portion of his work interprets the life, culture and political events of New York City. There is also a large body of work which is nostalgic for the stars of 1930s and 1940s Hollywood when Sorel was a youth. Sorel is noted for his wavy pen-and-ink style, which he describes as "spontaneous direct drawing".

Peter de Sève is an American artist who has worked in the illustration and animation fields. He has drawn many covers for the magazine The New Yorker. As a character designer, he worked on the characters of A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, Robots, the four Ice Age films, and on the main animal character E.B. in the 2011 Easter themed comedy film Hop. Most recently, he designed the characters for Arthur Christmas, for which he was nominated for Annie Award. He received the National Cartoonists Society Magazine Illustration Award for 2000. He is part of the Directors Collective Hornet Incorporated company.
Mark Brewer is an American artist who works as an illustrator. He received the National Cartoonist Society Magazine Illustration Award for 2002, and was nominated for the same award in 2000. Mark's drawings have been reproduced in The Wall Street Journal, Wine & Spirits, Yankee Magazine, Major League Baseball, The New York Times and The Washington Post to name a few. His drawings have been on the cover of Newsweek, The American Conservative, Weekly Reader, Politics Magazine, Strategic Finance, and GolfStyles among others. Mark Brewer is the past President of the Pittsburgh Society Of Illustrators (2009-2014). He is the author and illustrator of Brewology, An Illustrated Dictionary for Beer Lovers and currently (2020) writes a column about craft beer for Tribune Publications titled, What's Brewing?. Mark’s original works and prints are in private collections and have raised thousands of dollars for numerous charities.

Eric Gurney (1910–1992) was a Canadian-American cartoonist and illustrator. He immigrated to the US in 1938 to work with Walt Disney Productions, where he was a story writer and a collaborator on several Disney films. Turning freelance in 1948, he did cartoon illustrations for magazines and advertising campaigns. Gurney is well known for his humorous illustrations in books for children and adults. He received the National Cartoonists Society Advertising and Illustration Award for 1961 and 1971 for his work.
