Jake Putnam is a former Emmy-winning journalist who currently works in public relations in Boise, Idaho.
Putnam was born in Pocatello, Idaho November 22, 1956, and is a graduate of Pocatello High School and Idaho State University. Putnam began his career in 1984 as a photographer for KIFI television in Idaho Falls. In 1985, he worked served as a general assignment reporter in the Pocatello Bureau. [ citation needed ]
In 1987, Putnam was hired as a general assignment and political reporter for KTVB in Boise. In 1995, Putnam won an Emmy and in his 16-year career, won awards from the Associated Press, United Press International, Idaho Press Club and the Society of Professional Journalists. In 1997, Putnam was nominated for another Emmy and named Moderator of the public affairs program, Viewpoint. Viewpoint finished number in the ratings in all three years under Putnam's reign.[ citation needed ]
Putnam played Division I college tennis at Idaho State and worked for tennis legend Frank X. Brennan as head pro at Mercersburg Academy. Thirty years later, he's still playing with a year-end national ranking of 19 in 2014, 22 in 2015 and 26 in doubles in the USTA's Men's 55 Division. In June 2012, Putnam reached a personal best and was ranked 395 in the World ITF rankings. That year he played in the World Championships, winning two qualifying matches before losing the second round. In 2015 Putnam was named to the United States Osuna Cup team and has played on three consecutive teams. Putnam played in the Acapulco match in which the US team defeated Mexico in a tie 15–12.[ citation needed ]
In the 2012 US Senior games, Putnam finished 4th in Houston losing in a close semi-final match. Overall He's won 12 Gold Medals in the Idaho Senior Games Since 2007 bringing his tennis career record to 16 medals over the past ten years.[ citation needed ]
Putnam now works with the Idaho Farm Bureau as the state Broadcast Services Manager and writes for the Producer and Quarterly magazines.[ citation needed ]

The Pioneer Baseball League is an professional baseball league based in the Western United States. It operates as one of four Major League Baseball (MLB) Partner Leagues in the American independent baseball league system without MLB team affiliations. The league contested by twelve teams from the Northern California and Rocky Mountains regions, who play a regular season split into two halves. The top two teams at the end of each half qualify for a postseason tournament that determines the overall champion. The league's naming rights are owned by its primary ticket outlet TicketSmarter, as the Pioneer Baseball League Presented by TicketSmarter.
The Big Sky Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision. As of 2023, full member institutions are located in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Two affiliate members from California are football–only participants.
Pocatello is the county seat and largest city of Bannock County, with a small portion on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation in neighboring Power County, in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Idaho. It is the principal city of the Pocatello metropolitan area, which encompasses all of Bannock County.
Mats Arne Olof Wilander is a Swedish former world No. 1 tennis player. From 1982 to 1988, he won seven major singles titles, and one major men's doubles title. His breakthrough came suddenly and unexpectedly when he won the 1982 French Open at the age of 17.
Ilie Theodoriu Năstase is a Romanian former world No. 1 tennis player. He held the top singles spot from 23 August 1973 to 2 June 1974, and was the first man to hold the position on the computerized ATP rankings. Năstase is one of the 10 players in history who have won over 100 total ATP titles, with 64 in singles and 45 in doubles. Năstase won seven major titles: two in singles, three in men's doubles and two in mixed doubles. He also won four Masters Grand Prix year-end championship titles. He was the first professional sports figure to sign an endorsement contract with Nike, doing so in 1972. Năstase wrote several novels in French in the 1980s, and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 1991.
David Pablo Nalbandian is an Argentine former professional tennis player. He reached his highest ranking in singles of world No. 3 in March 2006, during a career that stretched from 2000 to 2013. Nalbandian was runner-up in the singles event at the 2002 Wimbledon Championships. During his career, he won 11 singles titles, including the Tennis Masters Cup in 2005 and two Masters 1000 tournaments. Nalbandian is the only Argentine man in history to reach the semifinals or better at all four majors and to reach the Wimbledon final.He was a member of the Argentinian Davis Cup team who reached the finals of the World Group in 2006, 2008 and 2011. Nalbandian played right-handed with a two-handed backhand, which was known for being a devastating shot. Since his retirement, Nalbandian has taken up the sport of rally racing and has competed in Rally Argentina.
Ivan Ljubičić is a Croatian former professional tennis player. He reached a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world No. 3 singles ranking on 1 May 2006. His career highlights include reaching a major semifinal at the 2006 French Open, and a Masters title at the Indian Wells Masters in 2010. He also contested three other Masters finals, two in 2005 at Madrid and Paris, and the other at the 2006 Miami Open.
Robert "Bob" Charles Bryan is an American former doubles world No. 1 tennis player. He won 23 major titles: 16 in men's doubles and 7 in mixed doubles. He turned professional in 1998. With his twin brother Mike, he was the world No. 1 doubles player for several years, first achieving the top ranking in September 2003. The brothers were named the ATP Team of the Decade for 2000–2009. They became the second men's doubles team to complete the career Golden Slam at the 2012 London Olympics.
The Bryan brothers, identical twin brothers Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan, are retired American professional doubles tennis players and the most successful duo of all time. They were born on April 29, 1978, with Mike being the elder by two minutes. The Bryans have won multiple Olympic medals, including the gold in 2012 and have won more professional games, matches, tournaments and Grand Slams than any other men's pairing. They held the World No. 1 doubles ranking jointly for 438 weeks, which is longer than anyone else in doubles history, and have also enjoyed that World No. 1 ranking together for a record 139 consecutive weeks. They have finished as the ATP year-end number 1 doubles team a record 10 times. Between 2005 and 2006, they set an Open Era record by competing in seven consecutive men's doubles Grand Slam finals.
Highland High School is a four-year public secondary school in Pocatello, Idaho, part of the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District#25. The school colors are red, black, and white and its mascot is a ram.
Steven Packer Preece is a former professional football player, a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons, from 1969 to 1977. He played his college football at Oregon State, where he was a successful option quarterback.
Manon Maria Bollegraf is a former professional tennis player from the Netherlands, who was a quarterfinalist at the singles event of the 1992 French Open, a finalist in doubles at the 1997 Wimbledon Championships, and a four-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion. She also finished fourth in women's doubles at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
Samuel Austin Querrey is an American professional pickleball and former tennis player. He reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 11 achieved on February 26, 2018, and won ten ATP singles titles. Known for his powerful serve, Querrey holds the record for consecutive service aces in a match with 10. He was also a capable doubles player, with five ATP doubles titles and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 23 achieved on May 17, 2010.
Ralph Fielding "Hutch" Hutchinson was an American football, basketball, and baseball player. He served as the head football coach at Dickinson College (1901), the University of Texas at Austin (1903–1905), the University of New Mexico (1911–1916), Washington & Jefferson College (1918), the University of Idaho (1919), and the Idaho Technical Institute (1920–1927), compiling a career college football record of 62–55–6. Hutchinson was also the head basketball coach at New Mexico (1910–1917), Idaho (1919–1920), and Idaho Technical (1926–1927), amassing a career college basketball record of 56–18, and the head baseball coach at Texas from 1904 to 1906 and at New Mexico from 1910 to 1917, tallying a career college baseball mark of 69–44–2.
The Boise State Broncos are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Boise State University, located in Boise, Idaho. The Broncos compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level as a member of the Mountain West Conference (MW). The Broncos have a successful athletic program overall, winning the WAC commissioner's cup for the 2005–06 and 2009–10 years. Boise State joined the MW on July 1, 2011.
Greg Patton is a tennis coach, both nationally and at a collegiate level. He currently leads the nationally ranked Boise State Broncos of men's tennis program of Boise State University as their head coach. His career record at Boise State is 203-67. At Boise State, he has won seven conference championships in nine seasons in four different conferences.
The Idaho State Bengals football program represents Idaho State University in college football. The Bengals play their home games at the ICCU Dome, an indoor facility on campus in Pocatello, Idaho. Idaho State is a charter member of the Big Sky Conference in NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Through the 2022 season, the Bengals have an all-time record of 478–545–20 (.468). Idaho State's current head coach is Cody Hawkins, who was hired on December 11, 2022.
Greg Ouellette is an American Professional tennis player. Ouellette reached a career high singles ranking of 269 on August 12, 2011 winning 5 professional singles titles and 7 doubles titles.This ranking high came shortly after his only ATP Challenger Semi-Final, in Lexington. He was named the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Player of the Month in October 2010.
