Jahmek Levi Selassie Power (born 30 June 1982), better known by his stage name Jammer, is a British grime MC, rapper, songwriter and record producer, known for being a member of Boy Better Know and a former member of N.A.S.T.Y Crew. Jammer also runs Lord of the Mics , a grime clash series released on DVD and well known in grime. [2]

Biography

Jammer was a member of the East London group N.A.S.T.Y Crew from 2000, and released a single under his own name, "Take U Out", in 2003 before departing from the group. [3] He signed with Big Dada Recordings and released his first full-length, Jahmanji, in May 2010. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] In 2014, Jammer released what was meant to be his first album entitled "Top Producer" for free, in which all the tracks were recorded between 2004–2006. [9] Jammer is a supporter of Arsenal F.C. [10] He is the co-founder of house music record label Mas Tiempo, along with Skepta.

Lord of the Mics

Jammer created the influential grime DVD series in his basement. During a cursing match with one of his friends, he envisioned the set up in his basement to be perfect for hosting clashes. This series skyrocketed in popularity following the famous clashes of Lord of the Mics 1 between Wiley and Kano, and Lord of the Mics 2 between Skepta and Devilman. [11]

Boy Better Know, often abbreviated as BBK, is a British grime collective and record label. The collective was founded in North London in 2005 as an independent record label by brothers Jamie and Joseph Adenuga, better known as Jme and Skepta, respectively. The former also serves as a sole owner and director of an associated company, Boy Better Know Limited, incorporated in 2008. All members of the collective use the record label as a means to publish their music, and is digitally distributed by The Orchard, a subsidiary of Sony Music.

With Boy Better Know, Skepta clashed with fellow MC Devilman for the video release Lord of the Mics 2, in what is remembered as one of the biggest clashes in grime history.

He was previously part of the grime collective Meridian Crew and later Roll Deep alongside his older brother, Skepta.

Lord of the Mics is a series of recorded grime clashes, headed by Jammer and Chad 'Ratty' Stennett. Each edition of LOTM features grime MCs participating in recorded clashes, in which they 'battle' each other over grime instrumentals. Various notable grime MCs have participated in Lord of the Mics, such as Skepta, Wiley, Kano, and P Money. LOTM was originally launched in 2004. The first clash to be filmed for LOTM, Wiley versus Kano, was filmed in Jammer's basement. The series was originally only published on DVD. LOTM was the first platform that released filmed grime clashes.

Shaun Barker, known by the stage name Bruza, is a British grime MC and rapper from Walthamstow, East London.

Nasty Crew was a British grime crew from East London, with its members primarily from Newham. The group was founded by MCs Sharky Major and Stormin and DJ Marcus Nasty in 1999, and its membership underwent frequent changes in the following years, with most artists forming or joining successor crews by 2006. It is regarded as a pioneering collective within grime music history and several of its former members have charted in the United Kingdom, including Jammer, D Double E, Ghetts, and Kano.
