Jan Hammenecker (Mariekerke, 2 October 1878-Westrode, 13 June 1932) was a Flemish Roman Catholic priest and writer. One of his pupils was Gerard Walschap.

Boortmeerbeek is a town in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Boortmeerbeek proper, Schiplaken and Hever. The total area is 18.64 km² which gives a population density of 620 inhabitants per km².
The Flemish Diamond is the Flemish reference to a network of four metropolitan areas in Belgium, three of which are in the central provinces of Flanders, together with the Brussels Capital Region. It consists of four agglomerations which form the four corners of an abstract diamond shape: Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp and Leuven. Over five million people live in this area, with a population density of about 600 per square kilometre in 2002.
ROSSEM or Radicale Omvormers en Sociale Strijders voor een Eerlijker Maatschappij is a Belgian libertarian political party founded in 1991 by the Flemish businessman and writer Jean-Pierre Van Rossem. 'Radicale Omvormers en Sociale Strijders voor een Eerlijker Maatschappij" can loosely be translated as "radical reformists and social fighters for a fairer society". There was an active French-speaking section in the Arrondissement of Nivelles with the acronym ROSSUM.

Stefan Hertmans is a Flemish Belgian writer. He was head of a study centre at University College Ghent and affiliated researcher of the Ghent University. He won the Ferdinand Bordewijk Prijs in 2002 for the novel Als op de eerste dag.

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp is an art academy located in Antwerp, Belgium. It is one of the oldest of its kind in Europe. It was founded in 1663 by David Teniers the Younger, painter to the Archduke Leopold Wilhelm and Don Juan of Austria. Teniers was master of the Guild of St Luke—which embraced arts and some handicrafts—and petitioned Philip IV of Spain, then master of the Spanish Netherlands, to grant a royal charter to establish a Fine Arts Academy in Antwerp. It houses the Antwerp Fashion Academy.

Eduard Léon Juliaan van Vliet was a Belgian writer and lawyer. He graduated in law at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The fact that his father left his family, played an important role in his poetry.
Jan Peter Peumans is a Belgian politician from the Flemish province of Limburg. Being part of the Flemish Movement, he was at a young age already member of the Volksunie. He seated for that party in the Limburgish provincial council and is since 2004 a Flemish Parliament member for the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA). From 2007 until 2009 he was N-VA fraction leader in the Flemish Parliament. After the elections of 7 June 2009, he became President of the Flemish Parliament, succeeding Marleen Vanderpoorten.

André Demedts was a Belgian Flemish writer and teacher. He has published works in many genres, all in Dutch. In 1962 he received the Prijs voor Letterkunde van de Vlaamse Provincies for his work De levenden en de doden. In 1976 he received the award in honour of his life-time career. In 1990 he has received the Award "Driejaarlijkse Staatsprijs voor literatuur" to honour his career as a writer. In 1970 the award André Demedtsprijs was established to reward persons engaged in the cause of the large Dutch/Flemish cultural development with a main purpose to integrate and entangle cultural activities in the Netherlands, Flanders and South Africa.
