Jane Blonde is the eponymous heroine of the Jane Blonde series of young adult novels by Jill Marshall. Jane Blonde is a James Bondesque spy, who is sent on missions and equipped with (often disguised) gadgets. Reviewers[who?] have praised Marshall's action sequences and pacing, but several[who?] have also expressed confusion stemming from the number of characters, many of whom assume multiple names, and some of the plot twists.
Jane Blonde has been identified as both a parody of the James Bond books/films and a girl power instance of the spy adventure genre epitomized by the James Bond franchise (rather than a parody proper).
On May 11, 2010, Jill Marshall announced that Sensational Spylet, the first book in the series, had been optioned by Bridge to Terabithia co-producer Tim Coddington .
Plot
Janey Brown was originally a very normal and boring student. Then one day, G-Mamma appeared at her school and told her that her mother was being held hostage on the roof of her uncle's bank. Janey Brown's life was turned upside down, and she now has two identities: Jane Blonde the spylet and Janey Brown the normal school girl.
Jane Blonde, a spylet for Solomon's Polificational Investigations, might fight the evil Sinerlesse Group. G-Mamma, her SPI:KE (SPI: Kid Educator), helps her with advice and by providing gadgets, the most important of which is the Wower, a shower-like transformation machine. Jane meets many other spylets, some of whom help her, some of whom betray her. She also finds out that there is no such person as Solomon Brown. He is actually her father, who she has never before seen in her life. It is found out that her best friend Ariel (who she knows as Freddie,) is the leader of the Sinerlesse Group. It is her teacher who writes those bad notes.
Characters
Janey Brown (code named Jane Blonde) - The eponymous spylet working for SPI and the main character of the series. Janey is initially introduced as a socially awkward and bullied adolescent, though she gains confidence with her new powers as a spylet and the friendship of Alfie.
Rosie Biggenham ("G-Mamma") – Jane's SPI:KE (SPI: Kid Educator) and godmother (though, due to her false memories of her past, Jean doesn't remember Rosie, creating problems early in the series), G-Mamma serves as Jane's trainer and handler.
Jean Brown (née Geneva Delacroix, codenamed Gina Bellarina) - Janey Brown's mother and a former spy.
Bowood "Boz Brilliance" Brown (Boz professionally uses the identity of his brother Solomon Brown, as well as Abe Rownigan) – Janey Brown's father, step-father (as Abe Rownigan), and the founder of SPI. Boz is largely shrouded in mystery throughout the series, leading to several misunderstandings, though he communicates with his daughter during his absence through coded messages disguised as puzzles.
Alfie Halliday (code named Al Halo) – best friend of Janey Brown, son of headmistress (Maisie Halliday) class superstar, fellow spylet.

Kathleen "Kat" Mitchell is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Jessie Wallace. She was also played by Kate Peck in a flashback in 2001 and Sumar-Elise Sandford in a flashback in 2018. Kat is the second eldest Slater family sister and first appeared on 18 September 2000. Kat's usual dress is very short skirts and leopard-print tops, with much make-up and heavy fake tan. Roxanne Lizette "Roxy" Mitchell is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, portrayed by Rita Simons. Roxy arrived in Walford with her sister Ronnie on 24 July 2007 and decides to move permanently to Walford from Ibiza where they ran a bar together. Roxy is the younger of the two sisters. She is described as the "fire", as opposed to Ronnie's "ice". Simons took a temporary hiatus in 2016, with Roxy off screen from 1 January until 4 May 2016. Following the announcement that Womack would be leaving the series, Simons' departure was also announced. Roxy departed the series in scenes broadcast on 1 January 2017, when she drowned in a hotel swimming pool along with Ronnie. Tiffany is the daughter of established characters Bianca Jackson and Ricky Butcher, though originally she was believed to be Bianca's daughter with a man named Nathan Dean. Tiffany's surname was changed in the show's credits from Dean to Butcher, which has also been referenced in the show. Tiffany departed, alongside her half-brother Morgan Butcher and their mother Bianca, in September 2014. Kirsty "Dotty" Cotton is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, played by Molly Conlin from 2008 to 2010 and Milly Zero from 2019 to 2022. She was introduced on 26 December 2008 as the daughter of established character Nick Cotton. Nick uses Dotty as his partner-in-crime; they plan to kill his mother Dot Branning and inherit the money from her will. She and Dot subsequently become close after Dotty sabotages Nick's murder attempt at the last minute. In her final storyline which aired on 23 February 2010, she left with her mother Sandy, who she believed died. On 3 October 2019, Dotty returned, with the role recast to Milly Zero. In December 2021, Sandy tells her that she is not Nick's daughter and that her father is Tom "Rocky" Cotton. However, in September 2022, this is revealed to be a lie. On 13 November 2022, it was announced that Zero had quit the show and Dotty left on 16 December 2022.
Restless is a 2012 British TV adaptation of William Boyd's espionage novel Restless (2006). Directed by Edward Hall, the film features Hayley Atwell, Rufus Sewell, Michelle Dockery, Michael Gambon and Charlotte Rampling. The two parts first aired on 27 and 28 December 2012 on BBC One.
The Slater family are a fictional family from the BBC soap opera EastEnders, that have appeared since Episode 1,997, first broadcast in September 2000. The family are introduced as a central family unit, originally consisting of father Charlie Slater, grandmother Mo Harris, Charlie's daughters, Kat Slater, Lynne Slater, Little Mo Morgan and Kat's teenage daughter Zoe Slater, and Lynne's partner Garry Hobbs. A fifth sister, Belinda Peacock, was introduced one year later.
