Jaya Krishna was an Indian film producer known for his works in Telugu cinema and few Tamil films. [1] He produced films such as Mana Voori Pandavulu 1978, which won the Filmfare Award for Best Film - Telugu for that year. His other hits include, Manthri Gari Viyyankudu 1983, Vivaha Bhojanambu, Muddula Manavaralu, Seetaramulu, Raagaleela, Neeku Naaku Pellanta, Krishnarjunulu, 420 etc. He produced the Tamil film Aalavandhan. Telugu cinema, also known by its sobriquet Tollywood, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Telugu language, based in Film Nagar, a neighborhood of Hyderabad, Telangana. Manavoori Pandavulu is a 1978 Telugu film directed by Bapu and written by Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, dealing with the struggle against the feudal system in their own unique way. This movie is remake of Kannada movie Paduvaaralli Pandavaru directed by legendary Puttanna Kanagal, by noted cartoonist Bapu. In 1980, he also remade it in Hindi as Hum Paanch starring Mithun Chakraborty.

Career

He started his career as a makeup man in the film industry. He was a personal makeup man for Rebel star Krishnam raju, Vijaya Shanti. The noted film producer A.M. Rathnam was his student who later on became a make up man and then a producer. [4] He is the first producer to pay a remuneration to Mega star Chiranjeevi (Rs. 1116/-). His production banners include Muddu Art Movies, Jaya Krishna Movies. [5]

Krishnaveni is a 1974 Telugu feature film directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao, starring Krishnam Raju and Vanisri, under the banner of Gopikrishna Movies. The film met with strong critical reception and commercial success upon release. The movie was about a lady suffering from hysteria and the emotional trauma of her family. The film is a remake of the Kannada hit film Sharapanjara (1971).
