Jerry Slack is an American golf course designer based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has played a role in more than 65 golf course construction projects. His winning of the Municipal Improvement of the Year award for Quail Ridge Golf Club in Kansas propelled him to designing some of the biggest projects in golf course design. His General's Ridge course in Manassas, Virginia was nominated for Golf Digest's “Best New Public Course” in 1997.

The Eastern Open Invitational, first played as the Eastern Open, was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour that was played in Maryland in the 1950s and early 1960s. The first nine events were played at Mt. Pleasant Municipal Golf Club in Baltimore, an 18-hole par-71 public course designed by Gus Hook and opened in 1933. For the next three years beginning with the 1959 event, the tournament moved to the new Pine Ridge Golf Club in Lutherville, three miles north of downtown Towson. This course, which overlooks the Loch Raven Reservoir, was built by Gus Hook in 1958. The tournament moved back to Mt. Pleasant after the 1961 event.

The course was built at an estimated cost of $40 million by Kenneth Wang, brother of American fashion designer Vera Wang, and the current owner of the U.S. Summit Company. It was listed as the second best of Links Magazine's Best New Public Courses of 2008.
