Jimmy Davis & Junction were a short-lived American hard rock/Southern rock band based out of Memphis, Tennessee. Fronted by local singer/guitarist Jimmy Davis, the band was active from the mid- to late-1980s, scoring a minor hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987 with "Kick the Wall," [1] which also cracked the Top 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart.
Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, the principal members of Jimmy Davis & Junction at the beginning of their recording career were Jimmy Davis (lead vocals, guitar), Tommy Burroughs (vocals,guitar, mandolin, violin ), John Scott (keyboards), and Chuck Reynolds (drums). This lineup recorded their debut album Kick the Wall in the mid-1980s without a permanent bassist, releasing the record on MCA [2] in 1987. The album was produced by fellow Memphian and local legend Jack Holder, who also provided most bass parts, additional guitar, and additional keyboards on the record. Characterized by a brash hard rock sound mixed with elements of blues rock/boogie rock and Southern rock, the album gained national exposure thanks to its title track, a song about dealing with the frustrations of an unsuccessful relationship. The group recorded a music video for the song [3] and appeared on several MTV music specials. [4] [5] Earning an immediate local following, the group began touring across the U.S. "Kick the Wall" would eventually peak at #67 on the pop charts [1] and reached number 32 on the Mainstream Rock chart. [6] A music video was also produced for the lead-off track on the album, "Catch My Heart." [7]
Bassist David Cochran, who had performed on one track on the Kick the Wall album, [8] soon joined the band as an official member. They recorded a new track, "My Way or the Highway" for the soundtrack to A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master , released in 1988. However, a full-length follow-up album from the band would not be forthcoming.
Following the dissolution of the group, Davis continued performing live in smaller clubs into the 1990s, [9] also contributing to the debut solo album from fellow Memphian and then-erstwhile Survivor frontman Jimi Jamison. In 1996, Davis again teamed with Burroughs to reform The Riverbluff Clan, which had been a prominent rock/country/bluegrass band in the 1970s. The revamped band released two albums, including the live recording, One Night in a Month of Sundays and a studio album, Two Quarts Low, with both receiving critical acclaim/recognition. [2]
On November 30, 2014, all five members of Jimmy Davis & Junction (including David Cochran) reunited to perform at a benefit concert at Neil's Music Room in Memphis for their former producer, Jack Holder, who was suffering from medical issues. Holder died on January 14, 2015, of complications from cancer at the age of 62. [10]
In May 2017, 30 years after the band released their debut album, the band's long-awaited follow-up album, Going the Distance, was released. [11]

Formed in 1988 by frontman and guitarist Billy Corgan, bassist D'arcy Wretzky, guitarist James Iha, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, the band has undergone several line-up changes since their reunion in 2006, with Corgan being the sole constant member since its inception. The current lineup features Corgan, Chamberlin, Iha, and guitarist Jeff Schroeder.

James Joseph Chamberlin is an American drummer and record producer. He is best known as the drummer for the alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. Following the 2000 breakup of the band, Chamberlin joined Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan in the supergroup Zwan and also formed his own group, the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex. In 2005, Chamberlin joined Corgan in reforming The Smashing Pumpkins; he eventually left the group in March 2009, though he returned again in 2015 for a summer tour. He performed in the group Skysaw until 2012. He is currently active under the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex name. In addition to his current work as CEO, Chamberlin has joined Chicago jazz saxophonist Frank Catalano for a string of 2013–15 performances in the Chicago area. An EP by Catalano and Chamberlin Love Supreme Collective - EP was released on July 29, 2014.
Sponge is an American rock band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1992 by vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarist Mike Cross, bassist Tim Cross, drummer Jimmy Paluzzi, and guitarist Joey Mazzola. Dombroski and the Cross brothers were previously in the hard rock band Loudhouse, with Mazzola joining later before the end of the band's tenure. Sponge's discography includes nine studio albums, four live albums, and several charting singles. They are best known for their 1994 hit "Plowed", their 1995 hit "Molly ", and their 1996 hit "Wax Ecstatic ".
Local H is an American rock band originally formed by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, bassist Matt Garcia, drummer Joe Daniels, and lead guitarist John Sparkman in Zion, Illinois in 1990. The members all met in high school in 1987 and founded Local H three years later. After Sparkman's departure in 1991 and Garcia's departure in 1993, Local H continued as an unorthodox two-piece setup.
Walking into Clarksdale is the only studio album by Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, both formerly of English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was released by Atlantic Records on 20 April 1998. The album was recorded and mixed by Steve Albini at Abbey Road Studios.
Seether are a South African rock band founded in 1999 in Pretoria, Gauteng. The band originally performed under the name Saron Gas until 2002, when they moved to the United States and changed it to Seether to avoid confusion with the deadly chemical known as sarin gas. Lead vocalist and guitarist Shaun Morgan is the band's longest serving member, bassist Dale Stewart joined shortly after formation while drummer John Humphrey joined them for the band's second album. Since 2018, the band has been employing second guitarist Corey Lowery. Several notable guitarists like Corey's brother Clint and Troy McLawhorn have toured or recorded with the band, however, Shaun has recorded most guitar parts for the band's records.
Lone Justice was an American country rock band formed in 1982 by guitarist Ryan Hedgecock and singer Maria McKee in Los Angeles. The band released two albums, Lone Justice in 1985 and Shelter the following year, before disbanding in 1987.
Got Any Gum? is the eighth solo studio album by the American singer-songwriter Joe Walsh. It was originally released in October 1987, on the label Warner Brothers in the United States, and Full Moon in the UK, which was the last Walsh album to be released by either of those labels. The album features eight original songs which were written by Walsh with others and by himself, the album also features two covers, including the song "In My Car", which was co-written by Walsh with Ringo Starr, the former drummer for The Beatles. The album also features vocal contributions from J. D. Souther and Survivor's lead vocalist Jimi Jamison.
Jimmy Wayne Jamison was an American singer. Best known as Jimi Jamison, he earned recognition as the frontman for the rock bands Target, Cobra, and Survivor from 1984 to 1989, performing the songs "Burning Heart" from the film Rocky IV, "The Moment of Truth" from The Karate Kid, along with other top-20 Survivor hits "I Can't Hold Back", "High On You", "The Search Is Over" and "Is This Love". He officially rejoined Survivor in 2000, remaining in the group until 2006, only to rejoin again in 2011. Acclaimed for his vocal abilities, Jamison is also known for having co-written and performed the theme song "I'm Always Here" for the 1990s TV series Baywatch.

The song was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea and produced by John Punter. It reached No. 7 in the United Kingdom and was the band's breakthrough hit in the United States, where it reached No. 20.

Emo pop is a fusion genre combining emo with pop-punk, pop music, or both. Emo pop features a musical style with more concise composition and hook-filled choruses. Emo pop has its origins in the 1990s with bands like Jimmy Eat World, the Get Up Kids, Weezer and the Promise Ring. The genre entered the mainstream in the early 2000s with Jimmy Eat World's breakthrough album Bleed American, which included its song "The Middle". Other emo pop bands that achieved mainstream success throughout the decade included Fall Out Boy, the All-American Rejects, My Chemical Romance, Panic! at the Disco and Paramore. The popularity of emo pop declined in the 2010s, with some prominent artists in the genre either disbanding or abandoning the emo pop style.

Memphis May Fire is an American metalcore band formed in Denton, Texas and currently signed to Rise Records. The band currently consists of lead guitarist Kellen McGregor, lead vocalist Matty Mullins, bassist Cory Elder, and drummer Jake Garland. Formed in 2006, they have released six studio albums and two EPs to date. Their fourth album, Unconditional, debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 and atop the Alternative Albums chart.
Young the Giant is an American rock band that formed in Irvine, California, in 2004. The band's line-up consists of Sameer Gadhia, Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh, and Francois Comtois (drums). Formerly known as The Jakes, Young the Giant was signed by Roadrunner Records in 2009, and they released their eponymous debut album in 2010. The band's first three singles, "My Body", "Cough Syrup", and "Apartment", all charted on the US Alternative Songs chart.

The band has released five albums and three EPs, two of which have reached the Billboard charts.

Cobra was a Swiss-American hard rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, active in the early 1980s. First forming in 1982, the band released an album in 1983 that led to tours supporting acts like Quiet Riot and Nazareth. They are perhaps best-known for including several musicians who later joined more prominent bands, including future Survivor singer Jimi Jamison and Krokus – and later Asia – guitarist Mandy Meyer. Cobra went their separate ways in 1984.
