He has played internationally and was also a professional baseball player. In 1990,Burrell was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays of MLB. He played in Minor League Baseball during the 1990 and 1991 seasons. After ending his baseball career,he was drafted in 1993 by the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA. He was later traded to the Golden State Warriors and then the Chicago Bulls,where he won a championship ring. He next played with the New Jersey Nets and then finished his NBA career with the Hornets in 2000–01. He played in other professional basketball leagues through the 2005–06 season.

During a 19-year professional playing career,Oliver played parts of 13 seasons in MLB for seven different teams during 1989–2001,and was a member of the World Series-winning 1990 Cincinnati Reds. He later managed in Minor League Baseball for the Boston Red Sox organization from 2014 through 2020,and in collegiate summer baseball in 2021 and 2022. As a player,Oliver was listed at 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) and 215 pounds (98 kg);he batted and threw right-handed.

The Pittsburgh Panthers baseball is the NCAA Division I intercollegiate baseball program of the University of Pittsburgh,often referred to as "Pitt",located in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. The Pitt baseball team competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference and plays their home games at Charles L. Cost Field in the Petersen Sports Complex. It is the university's oldest recorded sport,dating to 1869. Prior to joining the ACC in 2013-14,Pitt had won both the Big East Conference regular season and Big East Tournament championships. The Panthers have also received four First Team All-American selections,and have appeared in three NCAA championships. 52 Panthers have been selected in the Major League Baseball Draft.
The Trevecca Trojans are the athletic teams that represent Trevecca Nazarene University,located in Nashville,Tennessee,in intercollegiate sports at the NCAA Division II ranks. The Trojans moved from the NAIA to NCAA Division II in 2012-2013 and were a founding member of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The ABCA/Rawlings High School All-America Baseball Team has been named by the American Baseball Coaches Association every year since 1969,with the exceptions of 1993 and 2020. Between 1971–1975 and in 2000,only one team was selected per year. In 1969–1970,1976 and 1987,two teams were selected per year. Each team has consisted of between 10 and 25 players at various designated positions.
Lloyd Simmons is an American college baseball coach. He was the head coach for Seminole State College from 1976 to 2001 and from 2012 to 2016. He also served as a manager in Minor League Baseball and a scout. Simmons is a member of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame.
