Personal life

McCarthy was born near Chicago, Illinois, to a Catholic family of Irish, German, and Polish heritage. She is the third of four sisters: Lynette, actress/model Jenny, and Amy.

College athletic career

McCarthy set the University of Illinois-Chicago career scoring and assists records in 1997. [3] As of 2020, McCarthy still holds the career record for points, and is third in assists. [4] [5]

Professional athletics

She was drafted with the first pick of the fifth round of the 1998 American Basketball League draft by the Chicago Condors. [12] She played for the Condors during the 1998 season, [13] playing six games. [1]

The Big Ten was one of the last NCAA Division I college basketball conferences to start a tournament. The finals of the tournament are typically held immediately before the field for the NCAA Tournament is announced, although in 2018 it was held the week before Selection Sunday.

James Earl Collins was an American basketball player and coach. He was born and raised in Syracuse, New York, where he attended Corcoran High School. Collins was the head coach of the men's basketball team at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1996 to 2010, becoming the program's all-time winningest coach and leading UIC to its first-ever postseason appearances - NCAA Tournament appearances in 1998, 2002 and 2004, and an NIT showing in 2003.

UIC Flames

The UIC Flames are the intercollegiate athletic teams of the University of Illinois at Chicago. They are called the Flames as a reference to the Great Chicago Fire, and their team colors are navy blue and fire engine red. The Flames participate in NCAA Division I athletics as part of the Horizon League in baseball, basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track, and volleyball. Garrett Klassy is the current athletic director after Jim Schmidt retired on 1 August 2017 after 25 years.

UIC Flames womens basketball

The UIC Flames women's basketball team represents the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Horizon League.

Martell Bailey is an American basketball player who is most notable for his time spent as point guard for the UIC Flames men's basketball team from 2001 to 2004. He was the 2002–03 NCAA Division I men's basketball season assists leader and holds the Horizon League records for single-season and career assists in conference games. He was a two-time second team All-Horizon League selection, and he led the Flames to three of the four post season tournaments they have ever participated in, including two of their three NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournaments. Bailey's three seasons at UIC are the school's only consecutive 20-win seasons and culminated with a school record 24 wins. He was not accorded a fourth year of eligibility for academic reasons.

Grand Canyon Antelopes mens basketball

The Grand Canyon Antelopes men's basketball team represents Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. They are a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). As of 2020 they are led by head coach Bryce Drew and play their home games at the GCU Arena. They made the jump to NCAA Division I and joined the WAC on July 1, 2013.
