The Pikeville Cut-Through is a rock cut in Pikeville, Kentucky, United States, created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, through which passes a four-lane divided highway, a railroad line, and the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River. It is one of the largest civil engineering projects in the western hemisphere. Nearly 18,000,000 cubic yards (14,000,000 m3) of soil and rock were moved, making the Pikeville Cut-Through second only to the Panama Canal when ranking the hemisphere's largest earth-moving projects. Dr. William Hambley, who served as mayor of Pikeville for 29 years, Robert H. Holcomb, Chamber of Commerce president, and Henry Stratton, local attorney, spearheaded the project.

Mark Gregory Hambley is an American diplomat. During 32 years in the U.S. diplomatic service, Hon. Mark G Hambley served in fourteen different postings, many of them in Middle Eastern countries, including as U.S. Ambassador in Qatar and, later, in Lebanon and as the U.S. Consul General in Alexandria, Egypt, and in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Hambley was also posted in Saudi Arabia during the November 1979 Grand Mosque seizure. Other assignments took him to Vietnam, Yemen, Jordan, Tunisia and Libya during periods of war, coups, and civil unrest.

Steve Hambley is the former Representative for the 69th district of the Ohio House of Representatives. Hambley formerly served as a Medina County Commissioner for 18 years prior to seeking election to the Ohio House of Representatives, as well as a Brunswick City Councilman. He is a graduate of the University of Akron. When William G. Batchelder, the Speaker of the House who had served in the House for 38 years retired in 2014, Hambley was elected to replace him with 69% of the vote.
Hambley–Wallace House, also known as the Wallace House, is a historic home located at Salisbury, Rowan County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Charles Christian Hook and built between 1901 and 1903 by the Lazenby Brothers, for British mining engineer Egbert Hambley and his family. It is a large 2+1⁄2-story, granite and brick, Châteauesque style mansion with a tall hipped slate roof. It features an offset, conical-roof tower, two-story projecting bay, and wraparound arcaded porch. Other contributing resources are the playhouse, a stable / servant's quarters, and the landscaped grounds. Historian Davyd Foard Hood said the decision to use Châteauesque architecture was the result of the recent completion of Biltmore House. Thomas Meehan & Sons of Philadelphia did additional work on the property in 1904.
