Gavin Hassett is a Canadian rower. He began rowing in 1989. A three time Olympian, he won the silver medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in the Men's Lightweight Coxless Fours event, alongside Jeffrey Lay, Dave Boyes and Brian Peaker. He also claimed a bronze medal at the 2002 World Rowing Championships in Seville, Spain in the same event. Arthur Lindsay Hassett was a cricketer who played for Victoria and Australia. The diminutive Hassett was an elegant middle-order batsman, described by Wisden as, "... a master of nearly every stroke ... his superb timing, nimble footwork and strong wrists enabled him to make batting look a simple matter". His sporting career at school singled him out as a precocious talent, but he took a number of seasons to secure a regular place in first-class cricket and initially struggled to make large scores. Selected for the 1938 tour of England with only one first-class century to his name, Hassett established himself with three consecutive first-class tons at the start of the campaign. Although he struggled in the Tests, he played a crucial role in Australia's win in the Fourth Test, with a composed display in the run-chase which sealed the retention of the Ashes. Upon returning to Australia, he distinguished himself in domestic cricket with a series of high scores, becoming the only player to score two centuries in a match against Bill O'Reilly—widely regarded as the best bowler in the world.
Laune Rangers is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in town of Killorglin, County Kerry, Ireland. The club is affiliated to Kerry GAA. Rangers won the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship in 1996.

General Sir Francis George "Frank" Hassett was an Australian general who rose to the position of Chief of the Defence Force Staff, the professional head of the Australian Defence Force, serving in this capacity from November 1975 until April 1977. Hassett joined the Australian Army in 1935 upon gaining entrance into the Royal Military College, Duntroon. Serving with distinction in the early stages of the Second World War, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1942 at the age of 23, and posted as a staff officer for the remainder of the war.

He plays Gaelic football with his local club Laune Rangers and Dublin side St Anne's, and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1995 until 2005. Hassett captained Kerry to the All-Ireland title in 1997. He won All Ireland Under 21 Medals in 1995 & 1996 as captain. He also won an All Ireland Club Championship with Laune Rangers in 1996.

Lindsay Hassett was the vice-captain and one of three on-tour selectors for Don Bradman's famous Australian cricket team, which toured England in 1948. The Australians went undefeated in their 34 matches; this unprecedented feat by a Test side touring England earned them the sobriquet The Invincibles, and resulted in them being regarded as one of the greatest teams of all time. A right-handed batsman, Hassett played in all five Tests; he was a middle-order batsman in all but the Fourth Test, when he stood in as an opener due to an injury to Sid Barnes.
John Joseph Hassett was an Irish politician. A farmer, he was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Cumann na nGaedheal Teachta Dála (TD) for the Tipperary constituency at the June 1927 general election. He was re-elected at the September 1927 and 1932 general elections. He did not contest the 1933 general election.

She previously played for German side SC Sand, English club Manchester City, Amazon Grimstad in Norway, Werder Bremen in Germany's Frauen-Bundesliga and Dutch club Ajax. Tipperary is the only county to win Senior Inter-county titles in Hurling, Football, Ladies' Football, Camogie, Hardball singles and doubles, Softball singles and doubles, 40x20 Senior singles and 40x20 Senior doubles. Tipperary is also the only county to win the Hurling Senior All-Ireland in every decade since the inception of the competition in 1887.
The 1950–51 Ashes series consisted of five cricket Test matches, each of six days with five hours play each day and eight ball overs. It formed part of the MCC tour of Australia in 1950–51 and the matches outside the Tests were played in the name of the Marylebone Cricket Club. The England team under the captaincy of the big-hearted all-rounder Freddie Brown was regarded as the weakest sent to Australia and "without Bedser and Hutton, England would have been little better than a club side". Few gave them a chance of regaining the Ashes and they lost the series 4–1 to Lindsay Hassett's Australian team, which had far greater reserves of talent. In the Fifth and final Test England beat Australia for the first time since 1938 and ended their unbeaten run of 14 Tests against England, 26 Tests against all teams and 96 games in all cricket since the Second World War. After this victory England would defeat Australia in 1953, 1954–55 and 1956.
Mike Hassett is a former Irish sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Laune Rangers and was a member of the Kerry senior inter-county team from 1994 until 2001. Hassett captained Kerry to the National Football League & Munster Championships in 1997, missing out on the All-Ireland final that Kerry won. There was controversy at the end of the year when he did not receive an All Ireland medal which led to him and his younger brother Liam not playing with Kerry for the 1998 season. In 2000 however he was part of the Kerry team that won the All Ireland. He won All Ireland Under 21 Medals in 1995.
