John Rees is an Australian musician. He is best known for being the original bassist for Men at Work from 1980 to 1984.
In 1975, he was a member of Chetarca, a rock band that featured Paul Lever, Andrew Vance, Geoff Gallent and Bruce Bryan, who released only one album for disbanding. [1]
Rees, a friend of Jerry Speiser, joined Men at Work in 1980. [2] After two hits with "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Down Under", Rees was kicked out of the band after he and Speiser had many arguements with Colin Hay and wanted their manager fired, [3] [4] which led to splits in the band. [2] [5] [6] He was a music teacher in Melbourne and at Fish Creek Primary School, now lives in Gippsland, and plays in a local band, Beggs 2 Differ. [7]
