John Taylor (born 9 June 1937) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who played for Essex and Marylebone Cricket Club. He was born in West Ham.
Taylor's first representative cricket match came in a Royal Air Force XI against Yorkshire during the 1957 season, while he played his debut Second XI Championship match against Middlesex Second XI in 1959. A regular in the Second XI side during his first season, his debut first-class match came during 1960, in a match against Oxford University. His debut in the County Championship came just two months later, in a defeat to Derbyshire. He played four further County Championship matches during the season, as the team finished in sixth place in the County Championship.
Taylor featured occasionally during the following season, achieving both of his career half-centuries, including a career-high 86 against Somerset. Taylor's final County Championship appearance came towards the end of July 1961, in a match in which he finished the second innings with a duck. Essex finished seventh in the table, a slight decline on the previous year's performance, but Taylor was out of the team from then on.
Taylor made one further first-class appearance, just a day after his thirtieth birthday, playing for Marylebone Cricket Club against Cambridge University, a full six years after his final County Championship appearance.

James Cullum Tredwell is an English former international cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm off break bowler, he played his domestic cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and was appointed as County Captain for the 2013 season. He made his debut for Kent in the 2001 season, nine days before his first appearance for England Under-19s. He often fielded at slip. Tredwell was a member of the England team that won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20.
William Ingleby Jefferson is a former professional cricketer who played for Essex County Cricket Club, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire in a 12-year career. He retired from the game in 2012 as a result of a chronic hip complaint. Standing 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 m) tall, he was the tallest player in county cricket during most of his career, and among the tallest professional cricketers ever.
Michael Burns is an English first-class list cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset in a first-class career which spanned from 1992 until 2005. He also played Minor Counties cricket for Cumberland and Cornwall. An adaptable cricketer, he appeared for Cumberland and Warwickshire as a wicket-keeper, but when he moved to Somerset he developed into an aggressive batsman who bowled at medium-pace when needed.
Gregory Marc Smith is a British-South African former cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who formerly played for Essex. He had previously played for Derbyshire for eight years. Since retiring he has moved to Cornwall where he captains and coaches Penzance. In his first year they struggled to find form and lost to Helston 3 times in a season.
Thomas Marychurch Russell, birth registered as Thomas Marychurch Freeman, was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who played for Essex and Marylebone Cricket Club. He was born in Lewisham and died in Leyton.
Ian Gibson was an English doctor and cricketer who played first-class cricket for Oxford University between 1955 and 1958, for Derbyshire between 1957 and 1961 and for Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) in 1961.
Jaik Charles Mickleburgh is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman, who used to play for Essex. Mickleburgh is in the Essex 1st team squad for the first time during the 2008 season. He has also played Minor Counties cricket for Norfolk & Suffolk. Mickleburgh also spent the 2007/2008 Australian season with the Newtown and Chilwell Cricket Club playing in the Geelong Cricket Association, where he was warmly welcomed.
George Rodney Cass was an English cricketer: a wicket-keeper who played first-class cricket for Essex and Worcestershire in England, and for Tasmania in Australia, in the 1960s and 1970s. He was capped by Worcestershire in 1970. He was born at Overton, Wakefield, Yorkshire, and educated at Dewsbury Technical College.
Francis Appleyard was an English first-class cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He was born in Clifton, Yorkshire and died in Stevenage.
Frank Henry Vigar was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Essex County Cricket Club between 1938 and 1954. A right-handed batsman, and leg break bowler, Vigar served as an all-rounder with 8,858 runs at 26.28 and 241 wickets at 37.90. From his rained-off debut in 1938, Vigar went on to play 257 matches for his county. His greatest success came in the "golden summer" of 1947, where he scored 1,735 runs and took 64 wickets. A partnership with Peter Smith of 218 for the final wicket remains an Essex record.
