Joseph William Box (14 June 1842 – 2 October 1873) was an English first-class cricketer active 1866–68 who played for Middlesex. He was born in Peckham and died in Bow Common. He was a wicketkeeper and played in four first-class matches. [1]

First-class cricket is an official classification of the highest-standard international or domestic matches in the sport of cricket. A first-class match is of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each although, in practice, a team might play only one innings or none at all.
