Joseph Troy was the bassist and backing vocalist for the band Rx Bandits and sings and plays bass in the garage-punk duo Coke vs. Bills along with childhood friend Matthew Embree, the lead singer and guitarist of Rx Bandits. He also plays bass in Chiodos (most notably during their 2014 "Parks and Devastation" tour) and for The Sound of Animals Fighting during their live shows.

Drive-Thru Records was a California-based independent record label owned by siblings Richard and Stefanie Reines. The label was partially responsible for popularizing the pop-punk/emo sound of the early to mid-2000s. After facing financial obstacles in getting their bands' music into stores, Drive-Thru entered into a distribution deal with MCA/Universal. In 2003 MCA was dissolved and folded into Geffen Records. One of the clauses of that agreement was MCA/Geffen being able to sign any band of their choosing from Drive-Thru's roster.

The band's live lineup consisted of 12 different musicians. The band often employed the use of animal masks to conceal their identity. The group was inactive after 2009, with brief spurts of touring in 2014 and 2019, before announcing a new extended play and nationwide US tour in 2022.

Sargent House is an American management company and record label based in Los Angeles. It was founded in June 2006 by Cathy Pellow, who is a music video commissioner for Atlantic Records and also owns a music video production company called Refused TV. Pellow began managing the rock outfit RX Bandits in 2006. The band needed to release its new album ...And the Battle Begun, so Pellow decided to launch her own record label. From that point onward, Pellow continued to manage bands and release records, all under the Sargent House banner.

For this record, the band were less concerned about replicating their on-stage sound, as guitarist Steve Choi explained: "The main difference is that this time around, we didn't write with being live in mind". This album peaked #39 on the Billboard 200, but was only on chart for a week.
