People

Arto Järvelä is a Finnish fiddler and composer. Because of the many groups and projects he is involved in, he has been called "the busiest man in Finnish folk music". He is primarily a violinist, but among other instruments of his are nyckelharpa, mandolin and kantele. Arto Järvelä is the fourth generation of the well known Järvelä fiddler family, whose musical roots belong in the rural area close to the small town Kaustinen.

Jonne Järvelä Finnish musician

Jonne Järvelä is the vocalist/guitarist of the Finnish band Korpiklaani. He is known in the folk metal scene for his yoiking and contributed the yoik on the Finntroll album, Jaktens Tid. He was once a member of the Sami music group Angelin tytöt. In 2011 he appeared in the song "Humppa Is My Neighbour" by the Russian band Troll Bends Fir and in the song "Leszek a Hold" by the Hungarian band Dalriada, in 2012 he played on the Varg Song "A Thousand Eyes" of the Guten Tag album.

Maija Järvelä also commonly known as Maija Loytynoja is a Finnish female biathlete and cross-country skier. She has represented Finland at the Paralympics in 2006, 2010 and 2014. Maija Jarvela achieved her solitary medal in her Paralympic career securing a silver medal in the women's pursuit standing biathlon event during the 2010 Winter Paralympics, which ultimately was also the first Paralympic medal won by Finland during the start of the 2010 Winter Paralympics.
