k-ID is a Singapore-based software company founded in 2023 that develops tools to help online services and video game developers comply with international child safety and privacy laws. The company has raised over US$50 million in venture funding, and in 2024 was named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, listed on Forbes Asia’s 100 to Watch, and recognized by Fast Company’s Next Big Things in Tech.
Kidentify Pte Ltd (d.b.a k-ID) was incorporated in Singapore in February 2023. It was founded by privacy lawyers Kieran Donovan and Timothy Ma, trust and safety specialist Jeff Wu, and gaming industry executive Julian Corbett [1] The company launched publicly during the 2024 Game Developers Conference. In March 2024, k-ID announced a seed funding round of $5.4 million. [2] In June 2024, it secured a $45 million Series A investment led by Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed Venture Partners, bringing its total funding to over $50 million. [3]
k-ID partnered with Rocket Science Group in August 2024 to integrate k-ID during co-development cycles. [4]
k-ID sells a developer toolkit that includes APIs and SDKs used to assess user age and apply age-appropriate platform settings. [5] These tools manage functions such as communication restrictions, data handling, spending limits, and privacy controls. The system adapts to the laws of over 200 jurisdictions, including COPPA (U.S.), GDPR-K (EU), Online Safety Act (UK) and similar child protection regulations in other countries. [6]
