Karthago is a Hungarian rock band, one of the most popular during the eighties, playing American-style west coast rock.

Band history

The band was founded in 1979 by Ferenc Szigeti, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1981, which sold 178.000 copies and established the band's fame. After winning an international contest in Austria, they got a two-record deal for Western Europe. They toured Austria, East Germany and other Soviet Bloc countries. The band broke up in 1985 but in they reunited for a concert at Petőfi Csarnok, Budapest in 1990, followed by two others in 1997 and 2000. The band then started a 15-stop tour in 2003, culminating in their first new album after 19 years. They have been active since then, performing often all around Hungary.

Three Dog Night is an American rock band formed in 1967, founded by vocalists Chuck Negron, Cory Wells, and Danny Hutton. This lineup was soon augmented by Jimmy Greenspoon (keyboards), Joe Schermie (bass), Michael Allsup (guitar), and Floyd Sneed (drums). The band had 21 Billboard Top 40 hits between 1969 and 1975, with three hitting number one. Singer János Kóbor was with the band continuously from 1962 until his death in 2021; keyboardist/singer László Benkő was present from 1962 until his death in 2020. Guitarist György Molnár and bassist Tamás Mihály joined in 1967, and drummer Ferenc Debreczeni joined in 1971. Omega won several prestigious awards for their contributions to Hungarian culture.

Servant was a Christian rock group that grew out of the counter-culture Jesus Movement of the sixties and seventies. The band was founded in Victoria, British Columbia in 1976 by Jim Palosaari and performed to audiences throughout North America, Europe and Australia for over 12 years. Originally named "Higher Ground", the group later changed their name to Servant. The lyrics of their songs were known for challenging the Christian Church to turn back to social justice and caring for the poor.

Among the new talents are András Kállay-Saunders and Linda Király.

Irigy Hónaljmirigy are a Hungarian comedy/parody band, known around Hungary for their parodies of popular songs from both the country and abroad, as well as celebrities and TV shows. They had their own TV show, Irigy Hónaljmirigy Show, which ran on TV2 from 2000 until 2010. On their demos and their first album, they mostly parodied Hungarian rock songs, from their second album and onwards they started parodying the popular music scene in general. Since 2004, the band's albums are released by Hungarian major record label CLS Music.
