Kevin Lewis (born 19 September 1940 in Ellesmere Port) is an English former professional footballer who played as a winger in the Football League for Sheffield United, Liverpool and Huddersfield Town. [1]

The 2000 Football League Second Division play-off Final was an association football match played at Wembley Stadium on 28 May 2000, to determine the third and final team to gain promotion from the Second Division to the First Division of the Football League in the 1999–2000 season. Gillingham faced Wigan Athletic in one of the last competitive games to be played at the original Wembley Stadium. It was Gillingham's second consecutive appearance in the Second Division play-off final after a defeat to Manchester City a year earlier. Wigan had been defeated in the semi-finals the previous season and the game marked their first appearance in a play-off final. The teams reached the 2000 final by defeating Stoke City and Millwall respectively in the semi-finals.

John Higgins was an English professional footballer who played mainly in central defence. Born in Bakewell, Higgins was brought up in Buxton, Derbyshire, and began his football career with local club Buxton. He later played for Bolton Wanderers in the Football League between 1952 and 1961. He played in Bolton's 2–0 win over Manchester United in the 1958 FA Cup Final. In 1961, he joined Wigan Athletic, and went on to play 77 Cheshire League games in two seasons at the club. He then spent two seasons with fellow Cheshire League club Altrincham.

The divisions are the Championship, League One and League Two. The winner of the Championship, Newcastle United, and runner-up Brighton & Hove Albion were automatically promoted to the Premier League and they were joined by the winner of the Championship playoff, Huddersfield Town. The bottom two teams in League Two, Hartlepool United and Leyton Orient, were relegated to the National League.
